Best diving in the Caribbean !! Make sure you look for the littles Bc there are so many HUGE fish to distract you. I dove with Jardines Avalon II and they were wonderful. The fishing village where we spent our last night and launched does have access to them wifi cards you purchase at the Airport.

Read about what happened here before you go and use your imagination to think about the Americans trying to land here and it being a place of war. It is now a peaceful sandy bay with blue seas. So different from then. There is a hotel and commercial beach at the far end.

Had two brilliant days birding in Zapata with Kiko (Yonadys) as our guide. Kiko had great English, great knowledge, and took us to the heart of the swamp, to Las Salinas, to Soplillar, and to other sites in the area. We saw so very many birds - the endemics, the tody, the trogan, screech owl, pygmy owl, all the water birds, and very very much more. (A few of the pictures of these are attached.) He'd organised our transport and knew all the local people, and had been in touch before we went out with him via WhatsApp - so we were always well informed. He came straight over to where we were staying the day before to make sure everything was sorted out. Also very amusing and easy to get along with, and seemed to enjoy it was much as we did. We've stayed in touch since too.

The Viñales valley is the most beautiful valley encircled by mountains and its landscape is interspersed with dramatic rocky outcrops. The quality of this cultural landscape is enhanced by the vernacular architecture of its farms and villages, where a rich multi-ethnic society survives, illustrating the cultural development of the islands of Cuba.

There are two hiking excursion options available from Baracoa: the gruelling El Yunque or the manageable Parque Alejandro de Humboldt (what I call El Yunque ‘Lite’).
I don’t regret choosing the latter, ..ideal on a dry day while armed with good hiking footwear. My walking shoes were adequate on these trails which are always slick, even when it’s not raining. The rich, red clay paths take you through lush forests that ascend and descend, sometimes steeply and with few supports, as you make your way through the mountainous area.
Our guide, Joseah, was keen-eyed and knowledgeable. He quickly pointed out endemic plants, the world’s smallest frog (Monte Iberia eleuth), a Cuban Racer snake, a tree frog, millipedes, and the song of the Cuban Solitaire. A number of birds were heard in the forest, but rarely seen.
The hike ends at a river that eventually empties into the Bahía de Taco. At this stopping point, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, a vendor sells samples of local fruit for $1.00 CUC. We were then given thirty minutes of free time where my companions chose to go swimming while I went a short distance down the river to photograph birds. Later, for a small ‘consideration’, the vendor’s ox delivered us by cart through a number of river bends, to a place close to where we began our trek, and just in time for the rain.
During the return trip, a quick stop is made at the small Museo de Alejandro de Humboldt, followed by free time at the outdoor bar at Playa Maguana, where one can swim, enjoy refreshments, or both. Note that a good paladar (Victor’s) is situated across the road if you require something more substantial.
Be advised that the road to the Parque is awful so a hired car or excursion vehicle is recommended. Also, if you’re not sure-footed, this trek may not be for you. Fortunately, it was for me and was a highlight of my travels to the Oriente.

TIP: Bring insect repellent, water and perhaps a snack. Food is not provided during this five hour excursion.

The Plaza Mayor of Trinidad is located in the center of the historical center of the city. It has been key in the Trinidadian life since the foundation of the city in 1514, being its central and most important point.

It was paradise - clear semi-warm water that deepens over time, but allows many to take in the waves from the shore.

We did a jeep safari tour and part of it was coming to these beautiful caves which were a must see. Swimming in crystal blue water that is really refreshing.

Just a super time. All was great at the Villa Gerona-super clean, friendly and enjoyed Dayami.. The whole experience on Esla de la Juventud was more than I expected. Two great restaurants-best in town- were cheap and top dining with super food, especially the fish. Nice to "see" and talk with Ramon too. Keep up the great work and care. Bud Rumpf (Ricardo)

Incredibly beautiful street art, Fuster is a genius, Id recommend everyone who visits Havana to spend the morning walking around the streets close to Fusterlandia and admire his works of art.

Our half day birding trip with Paulino was the highlight of our trip! Paulino is so knowledgable, helpful and patient. From the moment we met him it was clear he put a great deal of effort into making it the best possible experience. He had binoculars for all of us, a list of possible birds, bird books and a fabulous scope that he set up for us to get a really good look at the bird in our sights. He took us to a variety of settings so we could see many different bird species - in fact, we recorded 63 species in our 4 hours together. Incredible! I can't wait to go back to Cuba to do the inland excursion. Thank you Paulino!
