Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked our excursions a few months before we arrived in pyha, there were 7 of us (4 adults and 2 kids)
We did the husky ride, reindeer safari, snowmobiles and Santa. All of which were fantastic!!
Our itinerary was emailed through a few weeks before our arrival.
We were collected and dropped back off at our apartments (pyhalinna apartments opposite the hotel) as promised and they were always on time.
Overall a fantastic experience from start to finish.

We had a great trip to the Amethyst Mine. Our guide, Irina was amazing, very friendly and reliable. After the visit at the mine we had a nice barbecue at one of the typical finnish lavvu in front of a beautiful lake. Would highly recommend :)

Thank you for sorting out our Ice Fishing on New Years day, the service before we arrived from Kristina was excellent and the experience on the day was good fun.

Aetu our guide and another lady was very good and the whole experience was way better than I anticipated. We ice fished on a river and the instructions we received were very good.

It was great value for money and I would highly recommend Call of the Wilderness again.

Also I picked this excursion up from looking at Trip Advisor and peoples comments so thank you very much

We went on a Northern Lights tour with Kristiina and had a very successful evening!
We and our kids really enjoyed the tour, the stories, a break with hot dogs, juice and cookies and a lot of atmosphere!
Kristiina is a very pleasant person, we had great fun talking to her and of course we were very happy to see the Northern Lights!

This was a day trip from Norwich airport with Newmarket holidays and well worthwhile. It was expensive, especially if like me you take the whole family!!!We flew from Norwich airport at 08.00am arriving at 12.00 noon Swedish time. (The flight was just 3 hours). We spent 6 hours there during which time we had sleigh rides pulled by the reindeer, followed by sleigh rides pulled by huskies.

Our next activity was to walk through the forest guided by lights, to have a lovely warm fruit drink before continuing to the home of Father Christmas! Our grandson enjoyed being in the limelight and being given a small present before we were taken back to the centre on a motorised sleigh.

A further hour was spent sledging whilst us oldies were welcoming a hot cup of tea. At 6.00 pm, we were collected and taken the short distance to the airport, where we flew out at 8.00pm. All meals were provided and whilst these were not over indulgent, they were adequate. A hot meal was provided during both flights while a hot lunch was provided by the locals.

If, like us, you think your children no longer believe in FC, do this trip and then see what they make of it. You never know, you might even question it yourself?!!!!

I would highly recommend this company. We messaged last minute as we decided we wanted to have a campfire and a hike the next day. They replied immediately and accommodated the experience to suit what we wanted. It was the best day we had in Lapland, our tour guide Kristiina was absolutely lovely, she had a lot of knowledge and it was very nice to meet her and learn about Finnish people. If we had stayed longer we would have done another tour with her. Thank you.

We tried electric fatbikes first time ever in not so optimal weather but the trip was big success. Really beautiful track around Luosto fell. We enjoyed our guides guidance and professional company also next day in Pyhä ice climbing. Big thanks to Kai and Marika!

We had a wonderful adventure into the pristine wilderness on quiet, fume-free, fun and responsive e-snowmobiles. The guides were really great - knowledgeable, interesting, attentive and just nice to spend time with. Amazing weather, Northern Lights, some Amethyst chips and a bit of wildlife all added to the experience. Thoroughly recommended and we can’t wait to come back when the kids are older and do some ice climbing.

It is about 2.0-2.5 hours drive from Ivalo and the car cannot enter to the mine area because is a National park. The car park is about 2.6 km away from the Amethyst mine and takes about another 100 meters by wooden board steps up to the mine. So the whole return journey to the car park is about 5-6km walk on a gentle uphill slope pathway. However, they had devised an interesting quiz along the route having about 10 questions about the national park about every 200 meters there is a question tagged to the tree. If you get all correct you get a prize.

Also note and check that the entry to the mine has scheduled time and is closed on one of the days which l had forgotten. We went on one of the days that was closed and had to make another trip.

It is a small mine and there is no commercial mining activity, it is still done through manual conventional mining of chiselling with spikes and hammer since it is now a national park. The guide will explain about the amethyst and visitors at the end are given a chance to dig amethyst themselves. If you could find one that could be covered by your fingers when you close your palm, then you can take away that piece. Anyway dont expect to get big piece.

There is also a store where they sell their Amethyst but is not cheap for a good one. The Biggest piece of Amethyst that was dug out in this mine is in ARTIKUM museum in Rovaniemi which we went to see also.

Would certainly recommend to visit this site and then head on to put a night in Rovaniemi to visit Santa Village before driving back to Ivalo which takes 3.0-3.5 hours drive the next day.
