Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Steve HKaty, TX62 contributionsNice waterfall near Pointe Noire, south of Deschaies. The access is very steep and I wouldn't do it if it's wet. The rocks are slippery. It's a beautiful setting and pleasant water. Great jumping from the rock ledges. Fun way to spend a few hours.Written 23 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dan PMerville, France72 contributionsWe spent an hour here with this boutique sized vanilla garden. Our kids love vanilla so it was great to learn about its cultivation from someone who really grows it. Unfortunately there was none available to buy but that didn’t take much away from the interesting time we spent there. We all know what sticks of vanilla smell and taste like, but had never seen them growing from their orchid plants.Written 18 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robby G CToronto, Canada81,657 contributionsIt wasn't hard to find the Notre Dame des Larmes. We could not miss it!
This is in honor of the Virgin Marie.
They had built a statue of Marie.
Ther we were also brown stones.
There were lots of candles and lots of flowers.
Worthwhile to see!Written 3 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However, everything else was educational and instructive. It helped that it was well presented. This was our second visit - the first was yesterday and we were told that we had missed the English tour, so had to come back today. BE WARNED - is is advisable to book in advance!Written 25 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tour was superb and very informative! The flora incredibly beautiful and the side info very interesting!
Unfortunately we couldn’t join the lunch as we hadn’t enough time.
Unbelievable that you can on’y eat local ouassous there!

- Katie FWashington DC, DC3,693 contributionsWe had a hard time finding this little studio, but were very pleased we put in the extra effort to get there. Unique sand art with a big variety to choose from. The artist is a lovely person, too, and took the time to show us the process. Not so hard to find if you take the first right after passing the big swimming pool in Pointe Noire, drive 3 or 4 minutes looking for the Reve de Sable sign on the left. The studio is in a small cottage right by the road. If you're looking for a unique gift to take home, don't miss this place.Written 20 February 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - George EFreeland, MD3 contributionsArnaud and his wife bought an Orchid garden and have lovingly preserved the original owners intention of saving specimens from the local rainforests that are endangered.
Couple this with expert massage in various modalities and it is hard to fault this extreme little haven away from the rest of the world.
Highly recommended. My wife and I will certainly return one day.Written 19 March 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Experience was really hands on and both our kids really enjoyed it. Experience was well worth the money and we learned a lot of the island, the harvest and the overall manufacturing processes. A very enriching experience for all who attended. Claude has a fascinating story and it’s worth getting to know him.Written 3 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kimberley JLubbock, TX5 contributionsSebastian was our guide for the tour. He was so knowledgeable and even spoke good English for us. It was just my family of 3 and we were given his undivided attention. I do not swim, but Sebastian was great with me. He had a floatie for me to use and he guided me around the water. Overall, a great time and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.Written 27 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GW R2 contributionsThis was our first diving experience, we were well looked after and had an absolutley fantistic afternoon 'pottering' about in the sea, we felt safe and secure and our host, Max is just a really nice chap.Written 17 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FatNat04Annecy, France159 contributionsBest way to discover Les Saintes from Deshaies: 10 minute drive and you are on the boat for an hour and half trip to Terre de Haut. Time to discover the village before a tour of the islands and lunch in a lovely place. Then onto Terre de Bas for some snorkelling (no turtles though). All round a great day out!Written 31 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
