Not much is saved from ancient times due to the border land status and the frequent wars, but the castle has been rebuilt with care, the views to the opposing russian fort are great and the audiovisual show is entertaining and educating for young and old.

Several people were fishing and wading in the warm autumn day sun. - Greg FAuckland Central, New Zealand995 contributionsA short (20 minute each way) detour from the main highway between Narva and Tallinn. Well worth it to see this grand convent. Apart from the main monastery building, you can walk around the site however the nuns can sometime be a bit grumpy and don't like photos as much.
I would say 30 minutes -45 minutes would be sufficient during your stop.

It has an important role in the local integration program that seems to work very well.

There is one uncontrollable factor - the wind. When the wind is from wrong side, the water could be very cold. - MiraThePumpkinCambridge, UK198 contributionsAstri Centre has lots of shops selling clothes, books, souvenirs, food, toys, jewellery, electronics and more. I particularly liked Kalev shop where you can buy Estonian chocolate. The lady there was so nice to make us discount and give lovely bag - great experience! We also then enjoyed bowling. The lady and man there were very polite, friendly and knowledgeable, and put us at ease. We enjoyed playing bowling there, and then went to Astri buffer. There, we took tea/coffee with cakes/pancake. It was nice food overall to get extra calories for billiards. The price for billiard was great, by the way, so we played until we got tired. Actually, we could have eaten something nearby, but we did not realise that (the cafe area was without light). I liked also to see places for kids to play. Overall, the place seems to have everything. - AndyMK47Ljubljana, Slovenia155 contributionsAbove Victoria Bastion is an entrance to the cashier's desk, where you can get an audio-guide (4 EUR with admission) or arrange a tour. You then walk back up and down, through a second door, to the actual bastion. It is not a long tour - less than one hour with the audio guide. It is very interesting, though, and the guide is well put together. - Ed SPhiladelphia, PA38 contributionsDid the “official” walking tour of the area one Sunday morning - surprisingly many people had showed, to the point where the guides had to divide us into 3 groups. I can’t speak for the English / Russian language tour, as I did the Estonian one, but our guide was informative and personable. There’s a fair amount of walking to be done, as the factory area is truly humongous. This church is good located (in the town centre).
