Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unvelibeble place. A paradise for a orienteerer runners, for sure. But very interesting forest to walk and do excursions, Ideal to get away from the summer heat in the coastal villages. The temperature can be up to 15 degrees lower.

This place is special because this is the only forest far and wide. I practically saw no forests in Puglia, but this one is really vast. It is located on the Gargano peninsula and covers a large part of Monte Gargano. We crossed it on our way from Monte Sant'Angelo to Peschici on the northern coast of the peninsula. We drove through this forest for two hours. Although the trees are not very high, the forest is dense and dark, the road is winding through it, the branches are hanging over the road, no living soul anywhere. It was quite a challenge for our bus. But if you are travelling by car, trees do not present a problem.

Magnificent and luxuriant forest within the Gargano National Park. We spent two nights there and took long walks.

Being from Northern CA. we wanted to see an Italian forest. We were there in Oct. and it was a bit cold and very quiet. The forest areas are very dense and dark this time of the year. We saw some deer we hadn't seen before that were fenced in. We took a short hike and headed on to see the other end of the forest.

It was pretty, but we couldn't find any of the trails for walking. We did stop by and say hello to some deer and an elk, that seemed to be in an enclosure. It was a rainy day, and October, so very quiet. Looks like there are picnic areas all over the place (and people who didn't pack out their garbage!). It was quite pretty and worth a drive through, but there sure wasn't the same infrastructure as in some parks: explanatory signage in English, marked trails, a map of the forest. I think the local officials could do so much more with this forest to make it better used and enjoyed by travelers.

We set out for a 6 hour hike with the official map from the visitor's centre, found the marker announcing the beginning of the trail and followed the coloured markers for about 2 hours into the forest. After a while we lost the markers but still had a clear trail so kept going into we hit a fence and found a sign saying that we were nowhere near where we were aiming for.
Despite not going where we wanted we had a wonderful time. The forest is quiet and calm, all you can hear are the birds, the wind and the cow bells.
The trees form a nice protective canopy so it doesn't get too hot.
We had a really nice time.

We visited in April, which is a bit "off season". The forest is nice and the trail we followed was quite easy, but I can not say this was "overwhelming".

The zig zag road up the hill is nice, there are several stop along the way where you can stop for a picnic or start a walk, we drove to the top where it was almost 10 degree cooler then in the lower part. We were disappointed in what we found, we took a short walk around a lake with some turtles in it. If you want to cool down from the heat it might be worth the trip otherwise do not bother.

Uno! Neanche a pagarlo. Aree pic nic.... ma poi? L'immondizia la riportiamo a casa? Vorrei capire...

Grazie!
