The restaurant at the Elephant Hill vineyard is a beautiful modernist building of glass, timber floors and concrete set amongst the vines. You approach the restaurant up a much manicured road lined with small palm trees and pass a very spectacular ‘Mongol’ Indian style statue of a trumpeting elephant. It is a superb photo opportunity. Inside to the right is... More

Had been strongly recommended to come here so had high hopes but I was bitterly disappointed! It is a beautiful location but ...... and here comes the list of improvements that could be made ..... having been to quite a few wine tastings this was POOR! It was over crowded yet I have no idea why. Served by waiting staff... More

Love this Winery for its architecture, ambiance, fine food and excellent wines. Started with the Bluff oyster sampler plate. Favourite had to be the pineapple salsa. Entrees were the salmon and the fig dish. We both thought the salmon was just lacking some punch but pleasant enough. The fig dish was way out of my comfort zone. Was so amazing... More

Came just to try the wines... Most staggeringly average... more $$ spent on promotion than making good wine it would seem... better value in the supermarket for most wines... couple decent but more the exception than the rule... Staff too busy and just pouring the drinks rather than selling the wines Overall... ordinary

We stopped here for lunch whilst riding around Hawkes Bay. The dining area was lovely and the food was nice but the bottle of wine we ordered with lunch was double the price that was quoted during the wine tasting. The staff member conducting the wine tasting for us appeared very disinterested and not at all engaging. Wouldn't bother stopping... More

What a beautiful place, very palatial and loved the decor. We tasted some of their fab wines. For tasting 6 wines it is $5.00 which is not charged if you spend $20 or more. We didn't eat here, you have to have a healthy budget but the restaurant was very busy and the food looked amazing. Next time we will... More

Exceptional dining experience for my wife and I. Decided to treat ourselves and were not disappointed with the quality of service, location, ambience, and of course the food. Chef added value by recognizing our anniversary with a little something. Great food selection. Really glad we went. Well done Elephant Hill.

Few locations match this one in NZ. Ocean views. Great staff and very friendly and efficient service. Offer matched wines. Mixed oysters were great. White fish (Hapuka) and tuna as mains were fantastic. Free wine tasting if dining in restaurant. Desserts looked amazing but we opted for cheese. Dessert wine overly sweet. Three courses plus wines around NZ $220. No... More

FABULOUS lunch here. Booking essential. Chef is Ashley Jones - the food is incredible. Lovely ambience and setting. For main I had the venison. The desserts were out of this world Bomb Alaska and coffee dessert. Definitely will be returning. Only fault I found a spelling mistake in their story of how they came to be - the mistaken word...
