# 85 live bats free-flying in our huge enclosure, designed to resemble the cloud forest at night# Guided tour by professional guides takes about 45 minutes# The tour is both informative, educational and entertaining, with a focus on biology and conservation# Cleverly designed interpretive exhibits, like our giant ears, huge bat heads, and bat skeleton.# You will see, at close range, 85 tropical fruit-eating and nectar-feeding bats from the Monteverde area# Our bats fly, eat, socialize, and even give birth before your eyes

We very much enjoyed our tour at the Bat Jungle. Our tour guide was great and clearly had a passion for bats. We learned a lot and came out with heightened enthusiasm and knowledge on how to help protect bats around the world.

Not a tourist trap but a fascinating lecture and look at various kinds of local bats – great way to learn more about these fascinating and misunderstood creatures who play key environmental roles. A pleasant surprise. Great for families too.

The guided tour consists of a discussion of bats, their contributions to humanity, their unique abilities and their threatened status. Following the presentation, you go into a dark area where several varieties of bats are kept in an enclosure behind glass. It is fun to watch the bats and see them feeding, but the truly fascinating part of this tour... More

we took our two kids (aged 14 and 9) to the place on a sunny afternoon when most people were out in the rainforest. Loved every minute of it ! Learned so much about these creatures and their relevance to the environment as well as their interesting lives and lifespans The guide was super informative with a great sense of... More

We had read about it before coming to Monteverde. We just arrived, but it's best to reserve a time. Getting the tour in your language may be a gamble without it. Lasts about an hour and you'll come away knowing (and loving) all about bats; worldwide. There are displays and live bats that you are able to see, fairly up... More

I am leery about bats and normally want nothing to do with them but this was a great learning experience. It is not really a bat jungle because they are safely behind glass which eased my doubts about the visit. We got a wonderful and informative explanation about what bats are and do and their importance to us and our... More

They were kept in a glass enclosed area. Not what I was expecting. We went on a rainy day and there was no outdoor exploration offered. Just a thorough description of bats in a small museum.

We are wondering what Megan E was expecting, since most other reviewers give us a much higher rating. We are always open to criticism, but she was not really critical, just gave us a dismissive rating of "2", instead of the normal 4 or 5 we always receive. More

At first I thought it would be boring. But guide had jokes and I learned a couple cool things. Definitely recommend this one hour tour, not Gilligan related, for anyone who wants to learn about something that is crucial to our ecosystem. Bee's, butterflies, and bats!!! Learn and preserve.

This is a "Everything you wanted to know about bats, but were afraid to ask" tour. You don't even have to ask the very knowledgeable guide tell you everything about the flying mammals. The guide was a walking breathing bat encyclopedia. They have some decent displays/posters/exhibits they use in the bat lecture process. You all the information on all the... More
