If you like to horseback Sabine's has got some great trips. This is not necessarily for novice riders but those who have been riding 5 or more times. We chose to go on the waterfall ride which was gorgeous. Alfonzo was our guide who spoke enough English to teach us a lot about area. Great vista views to the gulf... More

We are really pleased that you enjoyed our ride. It always makes us happy when we can give our riders great memories. Yes, our waterfall ride is a classic ride. It combines riding, hiking and seeing nature from a different perspective. Again, we are glad to have given you a great experience. Sabine More

Our group of four, from 6 to 72, all had a wonderful day riding horses in Monteverde. My husband and 6-year-old had never ridden a horse and they both were well taken care of. This trip is not your normal horse ride through the mountains. At times I would say it was even challenging, which made it memorable! Alonzo, our guide,... More

Thank you for coming to us and riding our horses. We are very happy to have given your family an experience you can share for a long time. You have truly taken the best out of the tour. The horse ride, the coffee stop, the humming birds and even a swim in the waterfall. We are also glad to hear... More

We rode with Sabine's Smiling Horses several times in 2012, and on a previous trip in 2009. The horses are healthy and well-maintained, which is not necessarily true of all outfits in Costa Rica. Sabine's guide Alonzo is wonderful, both with the horses and with the guests who ride them. Together, Sabine and Alonzo will ensure that you and your... More

Thank you and your family for coming several times to our stable and trying new things with our horses and at the farms. We very much enjoyed accommodating your family and new ideas. We wish you find your way again to Costa Rica and Monteverde one day. Sabine More

We did the half-day trip to the waterfall and had a great time! Alonzo, our guide, was patient, kind, and very informative. It helped that I have some Spanish skills, but his English was adequate for getting the idea across. We liked that there was a short hike and refreshment stop in addition to riding. The horses are well cared... More

My friends and I went to Smiling Horses early August. When we arrived we were welcomed nicely by the owners. They were really friendly and extremly helpful. The guide could not speak English although we did not find this bothersome at all. We actually loved the experience of being involved with a local Costa Rican. He was very patient and... More

This was one of the most fun things we did while we stayed at St Elena. We don't know how to horse ride but our guide made everything nice and simple for our 2 teens and us. We did the 3 hour waterfall tour and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Sabine and Guy are also great people and willing... More

Our guide Jonny made this an amazing trip ! He was so knowledgable and was able to find a great variety of wildlife for us to see. My partner and I were fortunate enough to be the only people on this guided walk , and I think it makes a huge difference in the amount of wildlife you see compared... More

I just wanted to share with everyone who may be interested in horseback riding in Costa Rica that we had a wonderful experience with Sabine and Guy with our family. We had 9 persons go on a 2 hr horse ride and then a water repeling adventure immediately after that. The ride was wonderful for all of us... including those... More

This was simply fabulous. We are staying at Sabine's Tree House lodge and were excited to discover that she was doing a horseback trip on our free day. It was amazing. The horses are obviously well taken care of and seemed to enjoy the trip. The guides do only speak spanish, but what are you doing in Costa Rica without... More

We went to the location and we were on time. For some reason the horses weren't there, so they needed to transport us, but we had to wait quite a bit before the would do that, so we lost about an hour just waiting around. (Note: They didn't deduct that hour from our ride, they just extended everything an hour).... More
