We arrived around 8am (when they opened) and no other tourist were there- so I'd say arrive as early as possible, at least during the rainy season. My husband and I were the only ones in our tour group which honestly made it super nice!...More

Our guide Krystal provided us a wonderful tour of how coffee is made, from beginning to final product. I learned more than I expected. She also provided us lessons on sugar cane and chocolate (though they are mostly grown elsewhere). It's low stress and we...More

Great tour here, which is divided into step-by-step sections to give you information about the whole coffee process from seed to cup. We also learnt a little about cacao (chocolate - with tasting included) and sugar cane. Our young guide Carlos was a credit to...More

This is in my category of one of those things you should probably do but once is enough. The tour provided good education regarding the process of growing/making coffee, chocolate and sugar cane.. The positive is that we learned about the 3 processes in one...More

We added the tour last minute to our itinerary the day before since there was not much to do around the hotel. Transportation picked us up. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. It wasn't crowded but I could picture it being a big spot during...More

Due to the altitude, climate and soil, Monteverde is one of the best places in CR for production of coffee, chocolate and sugar cane. If you love these treats like I do, you'll find the tour offered by the friendly, knowledgable staff to be very...More

I like coffee. Every morning. Amazingly, I didn't know probably 98 % of the information we got on this tour. Our guide, Illiyana (spelling) was so fantastic. She was funny and also informative. She gave us visuals and had an excitement about the information which...More

Fun tour by knowledgeable family members that covered history around coffee production (old and new ways), expressing juice from sugar cane and making chocolate from beans. Lots of hands-on opportunities and sampling!! Amazing amount of sampling certainly encouraged purchases at the gift shop. And patriarch,...More

We were shown around the tour by Alex, a very knowledgeable young man. We were shown beginning to end how coffee is made. Then we tasted some sugar cane both in its natural form and after being pulped. The best bit for me was the...More

We will be in Costa Rica beginning on Saturday and are staying farther north at the Hacienda Guachpelin. We are interested in a coffee tour but are not sure if it makes sense to drive all the way here. How long would that drive be? Is it a pretty drive?
