You can't image until you saw it by own. There are many kinds of Hydrangea, and each are in big. The day I visited, weather is pretty good. Many visitors on that day. Even though the queue is long, no one push, urge or argue....More

Came here for a business lunch. The restaurant was almost full but had a couple of tables available. Firstly the views of the lake out of two sides of glass is stunning. A cold winters day did not seem so bad from looking outside with...More

Mimurotoji is a temple founded about 1200 years ago in the northern hills of Uji City. It is also known as the "flower temple. Very nice place and not so far from Uji rail station. Entree fee is 500 JPY.

Mimurodo Temple is famous for its flowers: in May azalea, and in June hydrangea. As we visited there, azaleas were in full bloom, and the premises were turned into a carpet of flowers. If you visit this temple, you can combine it with other spots...More

This beautiful place was such a delight after the fiasco that is the Golden Temple. There were no tour buses or school groups. In fact only about 1% of the visitors were tourists. And oasis of calm and beauty. The hydrangeas are blooming now, but...More

One of several interesting religious complexes sitting quietly in the shadow of the Phoenix, Mimurotoji contains hillside gardens, a three-tier pagoda, an amidadō, a large hondō, all prefectural level cultural heritage sites dating to the Edo-jidai. The pagoda is actually half-sized. It would make an...More

Hydrangea flowers covers temples! The temples are located on the hill side. At the gate, you have to pay the entrance fee, $5. It worths it. In the June to July, you can see hydrangea blooming all over in the temple paths. You can climb...More

Visited July 3 and it was a little bit past full bloom so some of the hydrangea flowers had already fallen, but there were still some beautiful spots. The bright red ones were especially pretty, they must bloom a little later. Supposedly the garden has...More

We were here on 8 June and the hydrangeas were only about 25% in bloom. By late June we imagine that the garden would be a sea of colour. The huge banks of azaleas had finished flowering and had been trimmed, they still looked beautiful....More

Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers, so a short trek from Kyoto to Uji seemed justified. I was not disappointed. Other than there being lots of other flower seekers to contend with, this is a splendid temple in the hills of Uji. The hydrangea...More

Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi
Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist
attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens,
temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for
strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine
itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the
mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers,
picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the
