We visited on a Monday so the NT museum was closed but there’s no mistaking the familiar backdrop of some of Constable’s most famous works. Definitely worthwhile. There are a couple of walks, lovely on a pleasant day.

Justifiably very popular indeed and well managed by the National Trust staff and their team of volunteers. We were staying in Dedham and took a walk along the meandering River Stour before arriving at Flatford Mill. Most will arrive by car but quietly coming upon...More

This place is one of those historic venues which makes you proud to be English!! The views are stunning, plus the walks and strolls available are simply stunning. I will definitely return, very very soon!!

Really tranquil place that makes the most of its links to John Constable. The lock, mill house and river is tastefully restored so that the scenes that John Constable painted are recognisable. Willy Lotts Cottage is charming. The site is a great credit to the...More

We parked in Dedham and walked along the river to Flatford. Had a coffee in the National Trust cafe then walked back. So tranquil and peaceful even during 1/2 term! I thoroughly enjoyed the area and experience.

Beautiful scenery. Lovely walks. Really cheap Boat rides. Lovely quaint shop. Would definitely visit again. Only downside was extremely rude staff in teashop. She was so rude we ended up driving somewhere else to eat (which was amazing).

And the attraction of the place is not Flatford Mill alone. Does the name of British painter John Constable ring a bell? It might because, here, you are in "Constable Country", an ensemble well preserved that reminds of late 18th century England as we imagine...More

We visited Flatford Mill whilst on a weekend break. We were very lucky with the weather and it was not too busy. The tea rooms were pleasant and you can imagine Constable taking his sketches. The museum is excellent and very informative. The charges are...More

Unfortunately we don't have dogs any more but I do remember lots of people walking dogs. There is an outside eating area but I don't think they were waiting on tables. You had to queue up, for dog years

I would go to Dedham. It is a lovely walk along the river to Flatford. You just need to walk out of the town a little. Stroll along the path beside the river and you will get to the mill. Good luck and have a wonderful day!
