Madu River is a wetland, near the Small town "Balapitiya" along the Colombo Galle highway. This is the point where the Estuary of the Madu river. The river flows through a terrain where it creates a large number of islands, and the eco system creates a beautiful wetland. The hotels around provide boat rids through the canals created at a good cost. And there are loads of places to stay, dine and wine.

Took a boat ride along the madu river. Unfortunately got caught in some downpour but overall the experience was pleasant. We saw a monitor lizard swimming alongside us, visited the feet clensing fish pool.

Excellent experience, a must for family while in Sri Lanka..gives insight to certain aspects of life and development in the Area. The guides were very polite and showed the entire Area. AN experience in itself. my daughter and wife enjoyed the trip

The river safari is absolutely great. There are few hotels which you can go. It's cheaper. Go to fish therapy for sure. It's great. It's cheaper if you go to a hotel and use their package. There is a Buddhist temple in there as well....More

A sanctuary rich in biodiversity. One of the world's primary mangrove conservations. The river safari is full of actions and an experience not to be missed.

Madu river is in Balapitiya which is abt 2 hrs from Colombo We went on the old road which is narrower than the newly made highway as it takes quite a while to get to the access point of the highway from Colombo Hope this... More

It was about Rs.1500 per person. But I'm Sri lankan born, the rates maybe a bit more for foreigners.

It was 300 LKR per person. We were 12 in our group. No lunch.
