The old Cape Dutch architecture is so appealing and the coffe shops and restaurants are quaint and unique. This is such a beautiful example of an old town that is well maintained and welcoming to its visitors. Even if you are not able to stop in here for a long, it is certainly recommended for a fleeting visit. Clean streets,... More

We decided to visit Tulbagh as we've never been to this part of the world before and we were not disappointed. The main road Kerk/Church Street is steeped in history and character. First pop into the Information Centre to buy tickets to visit the old Church and a couple of the old Cape Dutch homes/museums in the street. The street... More

In addition to visiting the Oude Kerk take some time in the Old Town. After the earthquake the buildings have been beautifully restored and maintained and the small museum gives an. Indication of what life was like in the late 19 and early 20th century

Tulbagh - old small town not far from Cape Town is real hidden gemstone. The trip from Cape Town brings you to mountains with breathtaking views and than you enter Swartland. Region with heritage. Tulbagh - old town with historical buildings was destroyed by earthquake in 1969 and restored afterwords. The result is more than good. You have to go... More

Another lovely place in the western cape country side. None of those busy tourist places like in the winelands. Easy going life in the streets, quite a few good restaurants. However not worth a journey on itself.

Unusual small museum spread over a disused church and three houses. Simply but effectively done. We were especially impressed with Lindy in the Pioneers House who was charming and very informative.

Interesting history of the town, earthquake, and people. You get to walk through their small museum and about 3-4 buildings. Not overly exciting, but something to pass a few hours.
