Yesterday we’ve experienced a great adventure: climbing Yllas uphill by snowmobile with enthousiastic and experienced guide Kaisa. We really loved the beautiful view on top, we even could see the border of Sweden she told us. We really loved crossing through the snowy forest, on frozen lakes and downhill from Yllas. Thanks for giving us good & safe instructions, for your enthousiasm and nice conversation Kaisa, nice meeting you! Greetings from the Dutch sisters, Nicolien & Marjolein

So we went to Lapland on a last minute gig dec 2021.
We wanted to do it all , day one we booked with safartica for a snowmobile/Aurora hunting, we booked this just for the snowmobile experience and thing else was a bonus. From start to finish the whole experience was absolutely perfect, the snowmobile was a great relaxed fun evening with hats off to the guides we had. So full of knowledge and so helpful and happy throughout the whole thing , even managing to see the northern lights 🙏🏼🙏🏼. We would highly recommend this amd was a great night time experience.
We also booked our second excursion with the same company for a husky experience, again full kit provided amd the husky sledding was out of this world. Personally for me and the wife it was one of the best things we had ever done , to be out with the dogs in the wilderness was so beautiful and exhilarating at the same time.
I know a lot of people like to look after local companies but these are also relying tourists amd the husky excursion was part of the local business. Not a bad thing to say about either experience or the guides involved. Much love and appreciate what they do 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Me and my wife were on our honeymoon in Ylläs in the middle of December. We (ambitiously) booked a 50km snowmobile safari through Safartica. We had Sasu as our guide and ended up being the only ones on the safari, so it was basically like a private safari.
Having never rode a snowmobile, Sasu was great and very informative. He gave us regular breaks to rest and cooked a great meal at the halfway point. The scenery was beautiful and I would definitely say that it was worth it. Sasu is very comfortable and practiced on a snowmobile so he’s able to help with whatever questions you have.

Today we went with guide Jonna in the snowscooter to the snowhotel. The ride was super, it was the third time this week we did a scooter ride but Jonna rules!!! And she had a lot of interesting stories about the hotel as well.
On the way back we had some time left, instead of bringing us back we had a lovely bonus ride.
Thank you Jonna!!!!

We were out for the northern light photo tour by bus on a Friday evening. The tour started perfectly as we were told that we were the only participants so we had our private driver and photographer. The weather conditions were great so we didn’t have to go far to see the impressive Aurora Borealis right above our heads. Our guide (Maria) took many photos with her professional camera which we even received in the same night right after the trip. It was an experience we will never forget and would recommend anytime.
Notice: nobody can guarantee that you see the Northern lights but we recommend to inform about the geophysical requirements so you can choose the most likely day for your tour.

Thank you for this kind and helpful review. Happy to hear you enjoyed the tour and even got to see auroras! Congratulations :)
This is a good advice indeed: as nobody can guarantee Auroras - it's best to check the forecast to pick the day with the highest probability to see them

We were for the first time in Lapland and oh boy what a great adventure we have had.
We stayed in the Lake Hotel of Ylläsjarvi. A very comfortable and cosy hotel with wonderful helpful staff. But then our trips we booked in advance by Tui wich was named Call of the wild. On our day of arrival we got our suits, boots and socks. I have to say that this gear was not worn out but pretty new and wel maintained. Our first tour was with Josh. A jong Australian student who took us on our forrest ski's. We were only with the two of us and besides that he was very patient and helpfull with us unexperienced people when we fell over on our ski's. After an great extended tour we arrived in a tipi were he made a cosy fire and we got some berry juice and cookies.
Our second tour was with Jannek. A dutch woman who took us for the snowshoe walk trought the forrest. This time at daytime and we really were able to enjoy the winter wonderland of lapland. Jannek took all the time we thought we needed and again we made a great stop at a tipi were we could share stories.
Our first time with a snowmobile was an event by itself. Our guide this time was Pierre. A young Frenchman with al lot of experience on the snowmobile. He gave us wonderfull instructions so we could feel confident for our first time ever on this machine. Again we were only the two of us so he took us for a long ride in the dark. Always save and sound. En in between we could rest in a shelter with the fire.
Piere took us also on another day on the snowmobile to the Icehotel. Before looking around voor ourselfs, he told us everything to know about it.
Our Icefishing was again something special. Our guides where this time Pierre, Josh and Helmi. Helmi was a Finnish woman who knew everything about Icefishing and could tell us storys about Finnish traditions.
Besides these events we did a lot more ofcourse. Seeing the Aurora for instance on wich we were extremely lucky with. The sleigh ride with the Husky's were awsome and unforgettable as also our reindeerride in the night under de stars.
All in all we love to thank Safartica but especially Pierre, Josh, Jannik and Helmi for our unforgettable experience.

We stayed at Yllasrinni log cabins, run by Safartica. The resort was well managed and the staff there were very welcoming and helpful.
The cabin was very comfortable, lovely and warm. It had everything you would need for a holiday.
We did several excursions with Safartica, which were well organised and run . During each trip there were hot drinks and something to eat. The guides gave a talk about the area and about general life in Lapland, which was not only interesting, and considering, that most of the guides weren't even from Finland, showed their enthusiasm.
One excursion I would like to highlight was the 25Km snowmobile safari. Marceau was brilliant whilst looking after my wife and son, who suffered with travel sickness whilst on the trip. He made sure they stayed safe and organised a pickup for them to take them back. He is a credit to Safartica.
On New Year's eve there was a party on the frozen lake with a fireworks display. It was quite an experience, watching fireworks, drinking prosecco in the snow.
Overall, we had a fab time in an amazing place.

My husband and I are very thankful for this week and also we want to say a big thank you to our Guides Oriane, Pierre and Margot. They do their job with passion and they are very careful that everything is good. They explain everything in detail and they helped us with all our questions. Super Guides and persons. They take their time with every single person to help them and this is fantastic, because you don’t need to be stressed by yourself, if you don’t understand something. They also take their time to have a talk with you to know you better or to make a joke. Thank you guys for everything it was the best week ever.
Best wishes

Thanks to Safartica, (an agency that finally offers activities outside of mass tourism! Escape to wilderness in Ylläs + Aurora ice floating in Rovaniemi), we experienced our best memories as a family (couple + 2 adult children) in this activity. 'a full day of snowmobiling in an exceptional setting, with 2 wonderful guides, Marenka and Harry: muchas gracias… thank you so much!
In this full-day journey, from sunrise to sunset, we travel through forests, lakes, rivers, on trails without too many technical difficulties, in a grandiose and exceptional setting!
Marenka prepared us a delicious reindeer soup (even the most reindeer-averse members of the family enjoyed it!), very comforting for our chilled bodies, which allowed us to leave warmed up and full of energy!
I highly recommend this excursion to people comfortable on snowmobiles who are looking for a real activity far from mass tourism!
Well done and thank you to the guides and Safartica for this program!

Contrary to all other reviews, we are slightly less enthusiastic. That doesn't have much to do with the excursion (husky trip) but it does have to do with the escort. This one was not really sympathetic, not enthusiastic, did not feel there was room to ask questions. When we asked a question he seemed a bit annoyed, too bad! You pay more than enough for the excursion.
And because of all the positive reviews, we really had every confidence. Probably with another supervisor this review would have been more positive!

I booked a stay in Äkäslompolo in February, i’m really interested by an Aurora photo tour, so there is no much choice in this place for Aurora tour… Are there any photo tours for the northern lights ?

Hi Bernadett we are in Yllas fin 4 weeks time , we are staying at the ice hotel one night but would like to do some of the safaris , possibly snow shoe trek, ice fishing , snowmobile and my husband fancies swimming .There are just 2 of us which of your trips were the most enjoyable, and why and which best value for money any trips you did that I haven't mentioned that you particularly enjoyed.
