Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Go there to get info about the area. They can guide you if you want to explore ( own car) - Snow Vilage, Husky farm, Reindeer farm etc.or go show shoeing or cross country skiing on your own . The map they give is of course a must. The tour companies take you but usually each tour is upwards of $ 100! Nice building & with a nice cafe to warm you up

Kellokas has a permanent exhibition of living in Lapland, it was very nice showing life previously in Lapland.
In January Kellokas hosted also nature photographs, extraordinary good photos of nature.
Go there, walking from the village takes time as you go up all the time. It is worth going.
Kellokas shows also movies, Finnish movies had English subtitles at least in January.

Visitor center curated with interesting narrations of Sami life and culture and the nature of the place.
Spacious restaurant has an observation point with binoculars where you can make observations freely
Various paths branch off from the center
Great to start your experience in the area

This place exceeded my expectations. It wasn’t too fancy or anything like that, but it was really nice. The exhibitions were lovely, you could see that a lot of effort was put into them. Service personnel was helpful and kind. I spent around 1 hour in there and learned a lot about the history in the area. Similar to a nature museum, so the nature center name now makes sense. Would take my kids there too if I was to visit again.

Great nature and great service.
The employees of center are very friendly. You can get any kind of information from them, including maps of trails. The restaurant is good so it's useful before hike and after it. The bus to Rovaniemi goes not very often but you can use the taxi. Trails are so different that you can choose the one which fits your wishes and hiking experience.

If you are in the area, don't miss Kellokas. It's a half hour pleasant walk from Akaslompolo. A wonderful experience for all the family, with quality gifts , books maps etc available. I like the cafe, where they serve buffet lunch. This is always high quality and affordable, but you may wish to stop for just a coffee and cake.

Everyone visiting Ylläs should visit here too.
AND go downstairs to get to know how it all begin and how it has come to this what it is today - BIGGEST skiing resort in Finland which is known for K-market Jounin Kauppa.
Since there is so much more the just these 2 things to be visited and seen. The history is nicely told and future painted and told by the local elementary school students might reset your thinking.
Nice cafe in should you need to have refuel yourself a bit.
Fell surroundings and maps widely available with information how to calculate your limits while on Hike.
Remember to visit here too if you go to Ylläs.

Lovely food here! Soup was just delish!!! Lots of maps and advice!
Staff really friendly and helpful. We forgot to do the Gorge walk which I am disappointed I didn’t do. The next time back we will for sure!!
There is a small shop filled with really neat Finnish items too!
Very nice indeed!!!

On the left hand side as you go up to the ski centre. Worth stopping at and now it has a KINO Movie Theatre. It wasn't open when we were there as it was off season but I'm sure it's going to be popular.
