Even out of season, with none of the fountanis working, it was an amazing experience to wander round the gardens. Truly a mini-Versailles and worth a journey to see.

The palace gardens were the highlight of our visit to La Granja de San Ildefonso. Some parts were very well maintained, some less so, but the entire area is quite enjoyable. The fountains were not working when we visited, but were still interesting to look at.

I visited the gardens on a sunny winter day, but I was disappointed because most of the fountains and ponds had no water, and in the few places that were there it was greenish and dirty looking, It goes without saying that the fountains were off, I think they only turn them on on guided tours and as the tour moves from one to another but this time there was no guided tour, We were able to admire the main statues, but many of the small ones were covered, the promenade sites seemed neglected and we could not admire the beauty of any flower, even the palace we saw that it needed a cleaning, we admire only a small part of the splendor that had

There is very few visitors in this garden. You will need to buy ticket to visit the palace. The garden is free. It would be better if they can turn on their water fountains.
