About
Lake Ram is a crater lake in northeastern Israel, in the Golan Heights, near Mount Hermon. The only sources of the lake are rain water and an underground spring. The water does not leave the lake to any other body of water. The crater is a maar (extinct volcano crater filled with water).

A lovely water reserve.

This is a lovely, yet small, natural and rather isolated water reserve, located next to Masaada in the Golan Heights.
On a sunny day, there's a lovely view looking downward to the reserve, yet nothing else to do there.

Just stop there for a short break
Jan 2020
You've been probably driving a lot, so this place is a good opportunity to get out of your car, stretch your legs, take a few pictures (if the light is appropriate) and then go on your way to more interesting places.
I remembered this lake from my 1st trips as a foreign student in the summers of the seventies, and it was nice to stop there this winter to admire all the green around, on our way to the now powerful waterfalls of the North.

A Must while in northern part of the Golan Heights
Feb 2018 • Friends
this unique gem is fed by under water sources. It's water, while not suitable for drinking (or swimming), provide a perfect location for taking picture, strolling around it and observing the local Druze culture.

Try to visit the place in snowey day on winter.

Recommanded!

One of the best views in all of Israel!
Oct 2017 • Family
Recently, my son and I travelled up to the northeast tip of Israel and hiked up the highest mountain in Israel – Mount Hermon, 2,200 meters/7,000 feet high. We started at the bottom near the Druze village of Ma’sada on highway 98 near the Odem Forest. We hiked for about a kilometer and a half, passing apple orchards where one of the famers let us pick some delicious Hermon apples, until we came upon Birkat Ram (Ram’s lake), a lake in the center of an extinct volcano (known as a “maar”, and this one is one of the world’s most well-known maars) with Mount Hermon rising majestically in the background. We found a rest spot with one of the best views in all of Israel (see the pictures I posted). In one eyeful, one can see our whole hike - the Lake, the northern Golan Heights and the majestic Mount Hermon. For those looking for an easier adventure, it’s possible to hike on hiking trails around the whole lake and is definitely worth it! On the west side of the lake is the famous Golan Trail and on the east side of the lake is a “green” trail (white-green-white markers), both of which join together at the southern end of the lake. Don’t visit the area without visiting this lake!

Beautiful to watch from o good outlok.Outlook recommended is Nimrod
Nov 2016 • Couples
The kake is msotly nice to look at fron a high observation point that gives you an idea of the lake and its surrounding. There is a viewpoit near Saar Falls but it is too close to appreciate ist real beauty. I do not beleive there is any point in taking a hike down to the lake )15/5KM each way) as the closer you get the smaller and insagnificant it looks.
I highky recommed to watch the whole area from Nimrod viewpoint.

LAKE BIRCAT-RAM = it is a nice small water reserve but no attractions there
Apr 2016 • Friends
it is a nice open water reserve in a volcano-open mountain' you can get close to the water' but there are no water attractions there ' in the close by village there are nice resturants and there are trails for walking and traveling arround by 4x4' bikes or cars
Israeli mostly stop there on the way to mount Hermon or while traveling the north of the Golan heights' we got there within our 4x4 offroads ride with few jeeps and as the water level now is quite low - we could go as close as feasible to the water
my attach photos are from previous trip as i got out of batteries on last round
