Majestic & historical beauty atop an isolated rock cliff.

Wow! Located at the western end of the Judean Desert overlooking the Dead Sea atop an isolated rock plateau, Masada is absolutely incredible. We had hired a guide (from Jerusalem... read more

A wonderful retreat away from the mundane sea shore. You can access it either by hiking up which is not recommended unless you are a fitness freak. I suggest you spend a little for the cable car trip up. It offers a great overview of the surrounding mountain side as well as the dead Sea receding seashore. Masada speak of... More

Wow! Located at the western end of the Judean Desert overlooking the Dead Sea atop an isolated rock plateau, Masada is absolutely incredible. We had hired a guide (from Jerusalem) and took the cable car up after watching the video presentation in the museum. This ancient fortification (wherein the First Jewish–Roman War ended in the mass suicide of 960 people)... More

Masada - a unique experience. You can climb or take a gondola up(/down) there. It is really worth it hearing the amazing story of this old fort. There is nothing like Masada. Any if you aren't so much into culture, you will still have a great view from up there!

We enjoyed Masada but knew only a little of the history. Having a tour guide would be the best way to understand this site. We took the Snake Path which I will never do again! It is supposed to take an hour to walk it but it took me 1.5 hours and it was too strenuous for me. I am... More

Interesting place to visit full of ancient history along with the incredible stores attached to this fascinating location. We visited in autumn and the summit was still very hot. Take water and wear a hat. The cable car up has incredible views of the dead sea. For those very fit the summit can be reached by walking a zig zag... More

Amazing place on the high mountain, the Palace of Herodes. The story of the place is facinating. Must see in Israel.

Step into this ancient land drives me back to 2 thousands years ago. When I know the story, I respect and feel connected with the place more. This is the special place with special hidden secret. Sports shoes, water and dates are recommended!

Our visit here began with a sound and light show which was held in an amphitheatre but is only shown on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I really can't do justice to this breathtaking place in just a few lines but take my word for you, this is a place you must visit. Graham and I walked up the Rampart Path which... More

When you get up at 2am to be picked up by a hippie driving a minibus in 160 km/h in total darkness you are not sure if you are awake or having a nightmare. But please do it! Once dropped off at the bottom of the mountain, still in darkness we started walking. Then came the steps and we started... More

The scale and height of this ruin is unbelievable, and to think it was built by hand and withstood the Roman onslaught for so long is beyond belief .Looking down at the remaining foundations of the Roman encampments surrounding the hill is incredible . Take a trip out to this time capsule and wander through the remaining structures. PJ Barker... More
