What a great place for Local handmade gifts and art. Some really different things to buy and the owners are just lovely and full of information about the area as well. Well worth a trip.

Every summer this little gallery expands in to its garden and promotes local art. Sculptures and assemblages are prominently interspersed with plants and flowers. definitely worth a stop .

I’ve been shopping at Local Colour for twenty years. My only problem with the place is that whatever I buy, I want to keep for myself. Jewelry, pottery, art work, perfect gifts for friends and self. Unique earrings by Ann Wylie-Toal (Celtic modern sterling swirls with gorgeous stones) and Brian McCarthy’s bronzed circles and polygons. I love the owner’s whimsical cloth offerings, handbags and cloth-covered hand-bound journals. Whether you’re just browsing or intent on selecting something specific, the owner Carol will make you feel welcome; she’s ever cheerful and chatty but never hovers. Full disclosure: Carol is now a good friend. And that might be something to consider; Carol’s so easy and fun, if you keep going there, you might find you’ve made a friend, too. For those of you driving from the big smoke to Tobermory, Flesherton is a great place to stop and take a break; lunch at the Bicycle (pork dumplings! craft beer!) and take a short stump around the village to stretch your legs. Or pick up some samosas and butter tarts at the Bakery, some cheese from Leslieville Cheese Market (Lindsay goat cheddar, my fav), or Gary and Co. will make you a sandwich. Then trundle over to the Art Garden at the back of Local Colour and have a picnic amongst the sculptures of local artists. When you’re ready to get back on the road, coffee and biscotti to go from Highland Grounds will easy your departure, though you might get drawn in to our new used book store as you pass by. Better set aside a couple hours for a Flesherton stop. Or just come for the day! I came once, kept coming, and now I live here.

Thank you for your complimentary review. You're so right - after 27 years in business in this lovely little village, many customers have become friends and the other little shops you mention are all a part of the Flesherton family. Over the years that I have been here, I have watched Flesherton develop from a place that you passed through on the way to somewhere, to a destination with enough to do and see to warrant a special trip.

I love stopping in to see what the new makers have to offer - and regular art shows in the attached Flesherton Art Gallery make this a place you want to visit again and again. The Art Garden in the back offers a selection of local arts outdoors from early July to the fall. Selections of art, jewellery, wood crafts, pottery and much more!

Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm in our shop and gallery. We not only continue to showcase artists that we have represented since we opened here 27 years ago, but always strive to introduce new work to keep it interesting for our repeat visitors.

Local Colour is a lovely shop full of works of art for every price range. It's my go-to spot for all gift buying occasions. Carol has a keen eye and a very helpful attitude (and is a great artist herself!). The shop is very accommodating to after hour (or 'off' hour) visitors, just call ahead. It is adjacent to the Flesherton Gallery, also a must see. Don't miss this spot if you're passing through town!
