Iconic bar
Jul 2021 • Solo
It was quite an exciting experience to sit outside Bar Vitelli at the very spot Al Pacino sat in The Godfather, one of my favourite films. It was a blazing hot day in Savoca and the bar offered plenty of shade after a lengthy exploration of the medieval town. Inside one can see artifacts and photos from the film. Tge good-looking barman was very polite and friendly: the service efficient and speedy. My only (slight) criticism were the prices. I paid a bit much for an ordinary beer. Other than that, the place is wonderfully atmospheric and relaxing. I strongly recommend a trip to Savoca and a stop here.

Savoca 🇮🇹
Aug 2021 • Family
Savoca is a little town in the Messina area, not so far from Taormina. Bar Vitelli is so famous because the Movie "The Godfather", in a part, was shot here, the table, nearest the advertising "Itala Pilsen" remind the Al Pacino scene. The granita is cery good.

Extremely slow service
Jul 2021 • Couples
It is a pretty place if you want to see it with your own eyes that iconic scene from the Godfather, but other than that the bar itself is not very good. E X T R E M E L Y slow service even when only two couples were sitting at the bar. We got served after 40 minutes of waiting after notifying the waiter. Come here, take the picture and then leave. Do not waste your time

Worst restaurant in Sicily. In Italy or Sicily you get spoiled. The pasta is wonderful no matter where you go. Except here. Anyway, I can say I've been there.

Unmissable for Godfather fans but well worth a trip even if not
Sep 2019
I was overcome with emotion in this beautiful little cafe/bar in the delightful village of Savoca. The building is recognisable immediately as that used in my favourite film of all time. We got parked easily and for free just metres away. It's lovelier again now with its little terrace heavily shaded by vines.
Incredibly we got seated at THE same table where Michael and his two guards sat. As we sat down I realised that playing in the background was the film's main theme - 'Speak Softly Love.' Oh, the tears began to flow! Too much, yet subtly done.
Prices are expensive no doubt about it - my excellent pistachio cake cost a whopping 8 euros! But I didn't care, inside was fascinating Godfather memorabilia, lots of old photos of the filming, Al Pacino looking so handsome and so young. The Bar has an interesting history too, in terms of family ownership.
A difficult place to leave for a Godfather fan but genuinely beautiful so well worth a stop for anyone who just wants to enjoy a delightful village and lovely old cafe, the kind you dream of finding in Siciliy.

The Godfather bar, Bar Vitelli
Jun 2019
The main purpose of me travelling to Sicily, was to visit bar Vitelli. My personal journey starting walking up from the train station at Santa Teresa di Riva. This was quite an epic walk, with breath taking views along the way.

Then slowly and surely, I reach Savoca, I walk around a corner and reached my goal, getting to bar Vitelli. I had to pause for at least half an hour, just dazzing at the bar. Goose bumbs, shivering down my spine, as I went in.

I felt as though as was in the movie, because it's exactly the same, including the chairs outside where Micheal Corleone sat. Inside, on the left they've made it into a little museum, and pictures of when they filmed the Godfather. On the right, it's like a normal bar, aswel as purchasing gifts and souvenirs from the movie.

I had a big mug of cappuccino, and sat outside, and really did expect Micheal Corleone to walk out. But it was personal for me, not business, so we'd would got on just fine.

Opposite the bar, the views are amazing and all of Savoca is just a brilliant place to go.

I recommend to anyone, to go visit Bar Vitelli, fantastico.

I died and returned to Sicily to see the bar where Michael Corleone asks the hand of Apollonia from her father. Also we toured the church and the walkway where the nuptials occurred. Bravo Coppola and return to Sicily !!

Honeymoon
Oct 2019 • Couples
Visited the fabled bar Vitelli on honeymoon. The weather was terrible due to thunderstorms, however it did not dampen our spirits. Lovely old building and nice cafe. Lots of Godfather references around the walls. But hey, it’s bar Vitelli, it’s a scene from the Godfather. It’s all good.
The church where Al Pacino married is also a short walk up the hill.

Savoca day out
Oct 2019 • Couples
Myself and my husband got the bus to savoca while staying in giardini naxos as this was on both our to do trips while in the area, we was thrilled to call into the famous bar vitelli, it was just how it was shown on the film with memorabilia inside the bar and gift shop.
Of course we sat outside for a drink which was very reasonably priced and very friendly staff.
I would definitely recommend a drink here
