For walkers or joggers
Apr 2021 • Family
This is the starting gate for a long and wonderful beach walk along the so-called Sugar Beach. But the park itself is mainly for locals, very small, with plenty Kiawe thorns in the sand and on the lawn, no wAves to speak of, and a Porta-potty to give the park some class. A grill is available.

Hidden Gem
Nov 2019
A small beach that doesn't come up on a lot of searches but we had our best snorkeling experiences there. Haycraft Park is at the end (or start) of possibly the longest stretch of beach on Maui as it heads East then South towards Kihei. There were always turtles gliding in the water towards the reef and schools of fishes

My happy place in Maui
Jun 2019 • Solo
Haycraft Park is located at end of a dead end road. There is limited parking. Don’t judge this place when you enter. I saw some trash that needed cleaning up and it could use some TLC there. There is a not so pleasant porta potty, but thank goodness it’s there. The little shower place to clean up was a welcome site. Now, this is a pretty rustic park meaning it’s a little wild and overgrown natural area. Nature, not condos is what you see. I visited three times and didn’t see many people especially since I moved farther down the beach. The water was pleasant to play in, not too rough. Actually found a couple shells. Best ever is I found trees on the beach where I could lay in the shade, read and look out over beautiful Maalaea Bay. I felt like I was on my own private Hawaiian island. The picture of the tree and bay in background is my happy place. If you go, I hope you discover what I found there.

Best beach on Maui
Nov 2019 • Couples
We checked out all of the beaches from north of Lahaina all the way to south of Kihei. The next day we would always come back to this one. During the week there was hardly anybody here and it was absolutely perfect. As other people have said, the weekend was more crowded with local folks. I was surprised to read negative comments about the locals owning and trashing the park. I spoke with several local men, and they were extremely friendly. One of the days we were there, park employees were emptying the trash. The biggest negative is that, while there was an outhouse, it was disgusting. There was a brand new one that showed up while we were there, but the door was padlocked. Not sure if it was just being set up? Another nice thing about this beach is that there is some shade on the sand from overhanging trees.

Small But Beach Access
May 2019
This Park is located at the end of the street. Its very small with a lot of locals enjoying the weekend. Very basic with very little upkeep. It does have a small shower that is used to wash the sand off your feet. Parking is very limited with most visitors parking along the main road and walking. Best part is the access to one of the longest beaches that can be used for walking and enjoying the sun.

Local Infested Beach that They Have Trashed
Sep 2018 • Couples
Used to be a great beach to visit but now locals think they own it, like many other places on Maui, and have trashed it so they are comfortable there.
I was approached by a local the minute I arrived in my car. No words exchanged but it was obvious he was walking fast toward me to kick me out so I turned around and left as I was by myself.
The beach needs to be patrolled and cleaned up of local trash. Of course, since the cops are likely there relatives this will never happen, much like many places on Maui.
If you think racism is bad on the mainland, wait until you experience it in Hawaii. I graduated on Maui and it has always been an issue.

Nice little park
Jan 2019 • Couples
It is at the end of a street of condos, it has a car park, shower and a portable restroom.

All very ordinary, bordering on scruffy - but the beach is amazing and you can walk for miles. Like others, we saw Turtles near the shore.

Great beach walk!

We stayed nearby and loved this beach walk - saw lots of turtles and popped over to the bird sanctuary, great way to take in a sunrise.

I love this beach. We stay close by, so it’s an easy walk. Early morning and evening the beach has beautiful sun rise and sun sets. I love walking it. It’s not crowded and the people are always friendly. At low tide it has great tide pool areas and you can see fish and turtles. The sand has a deep yellow color and just feels so Maui. I see since my last visit it has attracted more people. But, it is far from the resorts area crowds. There’s pretty good parking. But, other than port a potties there’s no other amenities. Bring a picnic, sun screen ( shade is sparse) and other beach stuff and spend the day! This time I even saw whales spouting from shore.

Walk for miles!
Nov 2018 • Solo
Not a five star beach due to the dirty feel of the park, limited parking and a disgusting porta potty.
BUT.....4 star because you can walk for miles on the beach, see turtles in the wave, find sea glass and small shells and observe the Kealia Pond from the ocean side. Great photo opportunities and diverse sand. Take plenty of water or go early in the morning to walk as it can get very hot.
Other than the porta potty at the park, there are no bathrooms for miles.
