Very damp
Dec 2019 • Family
When on 23th dec train was very cold and damp the table was all wet from the condensation on the windows they was also covered in mould. Train was very poorly decorated 3 year old could have done better.
Didn't get the little drink as advertised as they had lost there licence that morning.
The elfs were not funny my child kept asking why they keeping running in the back.
One lady elf was checking our tickets and she said I dont want adult ones they are CRAP.
I couldn't believe she said that on a train packed full of kids not very professional.
Definitely wont be going again.

Santa train ride experience
Dec 2019 • Family
Avoid this very disappointing have being on the Kirklèes one for the last three years , no Christimas atmosphere,no organisation the elf did not have a clue what they were doing , running in back to get presents. The elf told the kids the minute they got on the train Santa was coming wih a presant , presents not aimed at child's age , my 11 year old gor a my little pony stationary set.No information given as to what was happening though out the journey and the train was stationary more than moving .
Elf sang two songs but didn't know the words!!
Several kids on train complaining how bored they were. Very disappointed and worse Christmas trip I have experienced in 11 years. This trip was like something they had put together in 5 minutes !!!

Poor Santa experience
Dec 2019 • Family
Visited as a family of 6 at a cost of £84 what a complete waste of money. The train goes to the end of the line Which is not far and then just back and forward. While Santa hands out some poor quality presents. I certainly will not be going back.

Footplate Experience
Oct 2019
My son booked a Footplate Experience for me as a Birthday present - what a great gift! As many people have written, the volunteers are fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable and patient and helped make the day a truly memorable one.
Would I go again? Absolutely, 100%

Choking black smoke
Oct 2019 • Couples
The railway is a great attraction for many people at the wonderful Elsecar Heritage centre but it isn’t acceptable to have choking black smoke puthering out of the chimney instead of steam. On mentioning that to an operative he said it was because they had substandard coal and anyway ‘it was all part of the fun’. In these days of environmental awareness I was dismayed at the amount of pollution being generated in just a couple of hours. Isn’t the pollution one of the reasons we moved to electric trains? To continue this in the name of fun is just bizarre.

A fantastic experience
Oct 2019
My husband went for a steam train Footplate experience. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the volunteers could not have been more friendly and helpful yet professional. The amount of time and effort they put in to preserving the railway is immense. We came away feeling we had been given a unique experience and highly recommend it to anyone interested in steam trains. Thankyou to all the volunteers

A FABULOUS EXPERIENCE
Oct 2019
We visited this wonderful place for the very first time yesterday. Firstly we can’t believe we have never been before considering we live so close.
The layout is superb and the history of the place is fascinating.
There’s lots to see and do, and it looks very educational for the younger generation.
We were here for the food festival, which was very well planned.
Lots of little shops as well, plus a very interesting antique showroom!
Already looking forward to our next visit!

I went with my adult son,who had a footplate experience. The people who worked with us were helpful, friendly and enthusiastic; the unusual locomotive a fascinating bonus.
