a national treasure

Love this place, it is so grand and graceful, by architect Cameron.
They sometimes have exhibitions inside. But it always surrounded with these antic philosopher's busts.
Found one of two great 2 meter monuments is missing, hopefully for restoration. It is a male one, I know that the local navy future officers (from local naval institute) at some last graduation day come to there to polish the , pardon, eggs. which were in different colour than the rest of the monument. It is been restored now.. probably to level the polishness....

Nice contrast

To Catherine's Palace. The colonnade protects busts of people and gods. I did not go into the museum exhibit. I do recommend going all the way around the balcony because there are good views of the gardens.

The Greco-Roman style of this building is quite a contrast to the baroque style of Catherine's Palace
Jun 2017 • Couples
I approached Cameron's Gallery from the park side, walking along the path by the rectangular pond. This path is a good spot for a side photo of this building as its Greco-Roman style with its row of white Iconic columns can be clearly seen. As I rounded the building, there was a double flight of steep steps to take to reach the floor level of this building. This location offered another good photoshot of the end of the building with the stairs and 2 large bronze statues of Greek gods set on large plinths at the base of the stairs. Climbing up the stairs, visitors could get good area photos across the lake to the red brick Dutch style Admiralty building on the other side as well as panorama views of the garden. The gallery has busts on display. Admission is free with your park ticket (150 Rubles). In late June, the informal garden beds lining the lawn in this area were starting to look attractive with the roses just leafing out. If visitors have time, this area of the park is very attractive to explore rather than just stop for a photo which is what I did. Later, I found the palace and park website had useful information and a map for the grounds in this section surrounding the Cameron wing. I visited this property with a private tour group (an excursion with Scenic River Cruises) so our focus was to see as much as possible in the park without spending too long in any one section as we only had 1 hour to spend in the park.

Interesting Museum

The museum building stands next to Catherine Palace and you can enjoy pretty good views on the surrounding garden apart from the statues thereat. If you are holding garden ticket, entry to the museum will then be free. Nice to stroll around if you have time.

One very elegant building next to Catherine Palace
Mar 2016 • Couples
This Gallery Museum bearing the name of one scottish architect and designer, that is, Charles Cameron, is the adjacent building to the east wing of the Catherine Palace. In fact, it stands perpendicular to it.
Naturally, it has been done by this talented architect and interior designer for Catherine the Great. Very impressive is the colonnade on the upper storey of edifice, consisting of number of slender ionic columns. From that level we've hade some beautiful views on the surrounding gardens and Great Pond. And within this row of columns there are also the bronze busts of the great figures of antiquity.
We just admired at the very originally designed approaching stairs with two wings and the statue of Hercules at the bottom of the stairs.
Nowadays, the Gallery is used to house temporary exhibitions.
If You have a park ticket, the admission for this Museum is free.
