Built during the reign of Elizabeth I with her baroque palace and park the construction of pavilions and galleries was continued during the reign of Catherine II when neoclassical style was in fashion. At present you can enjoy your short walk in cozy and tricky baroque garden and then continue walking in the romantic atmosphere of the huge mysterious English... More

just as the other palaces to visit this one required several days to see and understand everything. You will take many photos, walk a lot, see many paintings and view nice gardens. Come early you will spend the whole day there and there will be many people from all over the place.

We were allowed to stroll around the outside grounds unattended but inside you were given shoe covers to protect the flooring. Many of the rooms photos were not allowed but it was amazing. The wing used just for her clothes was larger than my first house lol. It's was truly an amazing trip

What a phenomenal palace -- almost more gold than your eyes can take it! And the wood floors are incredible pieces of artwork also. But the crowning jewel is the Amber Room in which all the walls have been crafted out of amber -- unbelievable.

We hired a private guide and went here in mid-March. The ballrooms, state rooms....EVERY room were exquisite. It's hard to imagine real people living with this amount of wealth. Our guide helped us understand what each room was used for and told us stories about the place and the people who lived in it. The place seemed to go on... More

In March we began our journey with the Catherine Palace tour. There wasn't any queue, several Chinese tourists groups did not spoil our visit. We were there on a wonderful excursion with a private guide. Gorgeous interiors and especially famous amber room is really gorgeous! I think that the best time for visiting is spring, you will be able to... More

There's nothing I can really add to the things that other travelers have said about this amazing palace. If you are visiting Saint Petersburg and have any chance to see Catherine's Palace in Pushkin, you simply must. But you should be warned that hell is other travelers. I first visited in July 2006: the gardens were blossoming, the fountains were... More

I loved this tour and my guide Lidia. She is so informed on all facets of history about this and all other tours I have done and ask for her when available. Highly recommend this tour and if you are fortunate enough to request and get Lidia as your guide, a real bonus. Jerry Pursley
