Great starting point for birdwatchers
Sep 2019
Based on the first building on the former island from which the construction of the southern Flevo-polder started, there is an exposition of the typical wildlife of Flevoland. After a cup of coffee or tea one can walk through the wetlands an woods in the neighborhood. These are particularly rewarding for bird watchers.

The history of Flevoland and nature education.
May 2018 • Friends
In the oldest barack of Flevoland you can find out about the history of it. Close to the Lepelaarplassen with many waterbirds and nature. Nice to go by bike and take an educational rest.

A very interesting view on nature

This visitor centre is a must see before you explore the region. As a citizen of Almere I go every now and then the the wildlife reserve.
If you are a lover of wildlife, nature and ecological systems, this is the place to be.

Fantastic educational stop-off point on a walk or drive

This is a great place to go - it's very educational with a huge amount of information about how Flevoland was created and some of the wildlife that has been re-introduced into the polder. The displays are great and information is very good, the only downfall is that i the information is not in other languages so you need someone to translate for you if you don't read/understand Dutch.
The volunteers and staff are always very friendly and you can have a cup of tea or coffee for a couple of euros and even buy some great jams and preserves made by local people.

Great place to learn about the natural history of certain animals, mainly birds of course. Easy to get to either by bike or car and the kids will love it too!

Amongst nature

This centre is situated in the famous Oostvaardersplassen, full of Dutch wildlife. It's an informational centre, where you can have a look on the "savanna" of the Netherlands. You also can enjoy a drink or a bite.
