Very good organisation for helping animals in need, who should not be kept in a home. Doing a good job on a international level to give animals a worthy life.

A super organization for rescuing monkeys!
Jun 2016 • Couples
Stichting AAP is a wonderful group of mostly volunteers caring and helping rescued monkeys of every sort and finding a better home for their future. Was delighted to be on a behind the scenes tour to see the amazing work being done!

Educational and heartbreaking

Stichting Aap rescues and. where possible. re-socialises apes and monkeys so that they can be either taken to communities or set back into the wild. These animals have been (mis)used by humans in zoos. circuses, as pets, as tourist attractions, in medical experiments etc. It's very saddening if you think about it. But what the charity does is amazing and the "ape island" they have created in Almere is well worth a visit to see the apes and learn about the fantastic work that is being done. And take a moment to think about our misuse of animals which unfortunately still happens.

This is a very nice place for retired monkeys. Here we found apes , usd for medicall experiments and they get here a nice retirement. Please support this. It is quite unique.

Guided tour is (to) long, but parts off the facility you can explore on your own
Aug 2015 • Couples
As part of a sponsor program we went on a tour. Starting with a film which was very informative about both history and today's operations. The tour on the grounds was too long and the guide took way to long on various stopping points thereby losing the attention off quit a few people. Afterwards there is the possibility to wander around between the monkey islands and the surrounding attractions.

A different kind of shelter
Nice to see the animals getting back to their "wild" habits again. And kudos to the folks who give them shelter.

Stichting AAP provides shelter for primates of any kind. I've been a long term financial supporter of this institute and I would highly encourage everyone to consider making a (small) donation. AAP is located at 'De Kemphaan' and you can freely wander around the small public area to see some primates in their play area. Just a few steps away is a restaurant, a biological shop and a small "petting zoo" for children and the area offers options for just strolling around and enjoy a nice sunny walk.

Highly recommended to spend an hour or two when you're in the area. And again, please consider making a small contribution to AAP.
