Beautiful nature reserve
Sep 2021 • Couples
Beautiful nature reserve with biking and walking paths, lots of trees, water, birds, green areas. The signing of routes could be better.

Beautifull Park with local wildlife especially birds
Jul 2020
A very large natural park which need to be done by bike. It can also be done by foot but you will never have the possibility to do the complete park.

Great for some relaxing nature
Jul 2019 • Solo
Great place to go to to have a walk and see some animals. You can see a lot of birds and also Koniks horses which is great if you “catch” them. Also there are tours which are very nice. There are also set out routes that you can follow by foot or by bike

A sad experience
Jun 2019 • Solo
I had some expectations for this place, even though I had read some terrible reviwes as well. Sadly, I have to agree with them.

A man-made national park where the horses are skinny and doesn’t look healthy at all. I also visited the tree bird observation towers, and where not impressed. Seems like noone takes care of this place even though people are working in the reception and the restaurant....

I did take the long route, still the highlights from my visit were the barn swallows offspring in the observation tent close to the entrance and some European goldfinches close to the restaurant.

Lovely place to watch birds and enjoy nature with a simple lunch
Apr 2019 • Couples
A great starting point for bird watchers. Have lunch and get information on the area. The lunch is O.K. the view/location is remarkable.

Vast area
Mar 2019 • Couples
Very vast area, nice for a walk. We were kinda limited in time and just took the 3.3km walk. And saw some wild horses. Outpost center is quit recent and has bathroom facilities and you can have a drink and a bite to eat there.

A shame, lots of the contributions here are about the controversy about the place. Just go for a walk here and enjoy the scenery!

Afternoon outing.

Lovely outpost in the middle of no where . Restaurant come bookshop worth a visit with a lovely view over the water where you can watch ducks ,Geese etc feeding and playing around. They have an auditorium which tells you the story about how Oostvaarders started all in dutch for non Dutch speaking people which is a pity. They have a small like museum opposite the auditorium on the 1st floor which I found interesting. They have on the same floor the lookout post with a few binoculars for guests to use and see wild horses in the distance. It is a bleak landscape where hardly a shrub or tree to be seen for the animals to find shelter in harsh weather which I found a pity and was I believe due to bad animal management who have no idea about running a animal conservation. But at long last someone has now started to get the animal population down to the level that the ground can hold and feed.
