Normally park in the National Trust car park rather than down in the valley. Best to get there early as it can get busy. Great walk up to the top and then along the great ridge. Weather wasn’t brilliant but still superb views. Strongly advise...More

Driving up through Winnat's Pass from Castleton, stopped off to see the old Mam Tor road that long ago slipped down the side of the mountainside. Since i was in the area, also took the time to explore the Tor itself, as in the past...More

Well maybe the weather was not the best one but we had a long and full of fun walk to Mam Tor. If you don't want to have a very long walk I would recommend to choose the car park on the top ,there is...More

Even on a drizzling April day this was worth the steep climb from the car park, and I wish we'd been better equipped to do the full ridge walk. Beautiful views into the Hope Valley on one side, and Edale on the other. Was tempted...More

Busy today as weather was excellent - didn’t detract from the superb views. An easy walk suitable for all abilities if you can do the first steep bit. Well worth the effort.

The view from the peak is stunning! We wanted to do the loop but it was windy that afternoon. Would come again to do the loop

On a windy / snowy day in February went for a short hike on Mam Tor. Was really enjoyable and the views are superb!

We had a great time doing the mam tor loop (3 miles), unfortunately we had a lot of fog so views very restricted but we all loved the mud, puddles and wind. We'll be back to climb again on a clearer day.

I chose the wrong day to visit, there was heavy cloud cover and recent heavy rain made the going quite challenging. The path from the National Trust car park is well laid out and takes you all the way to the top of the Tor...More

A beautiful walk from Castleton up Mam Tor takes you past Odin Mine and the famous collapsed A-Road before a steady climb to the top within an Iron Age fort. It’s beautiful whatever the weather and if you have the stamina you can carry on...More
