Space is limited each day to 650 people, but it is well-worth the visit. The site is 5,000 years old, which makes it older than the pyramids. Historians was once believed Newgrange was a passage tomb, but now is believed to be an ancient temple.

We were fortunate to have stayed not more than 10 miles from this Irish treasure. Having visited several stone circle sites on the British Isles, we had heard that Ireland had some impressive Neolithic sites as well. But seeing them is another thing. First of...More

Nice education about the early Irish and the passage tombs. Short video and passage replica to walk through even if you can't take the time to wait for one of the he long bus tours to see the sites.

During peak tourist season in the summer I would recommend arriving for the first tour of the day. We were able to enjoy the exhibit downstairs as we waiting for our cue to board the first bus to one of the tombs. We were able...More

One of the reasons we chose to go from Dublin to Athlone was to pass by the Boyne Valley to see the Neolithic Burial Mounds. We really didn't know what to expect, but were delighted by what was on offer. First off, this place is...More

We tried twice to get into here but the system employed makes it difficult. We has our baby with us which seemed too much bother for the staff to deal with and made an excuse of not enough tickets to cover us and the baby...More

I have been to this site before and enjoyed it first time 24 years ago, before the visitor centre, when you parked on the road, paid at the little hut and walked up the field, a wonderful experience. Then next time the visitor centre was...More

We arrived at 9am along with 50 other people. We were able to go at 9:30. The tour is great - this along with Knowth gave a good background on the Neolithic people. Well worth the time/money. Bring a sandwich to eat in between visiting...More

This review is strictly about the Bru na Boinne Visitors Centre; Newgrange and Knowth tombs have been reviewed separately. The staff here are very pushy. They pressure you into visiting both tomb sites without giving you a moment to think or consult your travel companions....More

The visitor center has very informative exhibits about the neolithic structures in the Boyne valley area and prepares you for the trip out to Knowth and Newgrange, indeed I would deem it essential that you go here before getting on the bus to these places....More

Drive to the visitors center. From there all visitors board trams that take visitors to the two sites. This is included in the entry fee. The trams run often, so there's little waiting.

Check with the tourist info center on the site. We spent about 2 hrs. there. Someone said that Newgrande will be closed until May 1.
