We came to the island with our own boat. The friendly staff received us and directed us to the right place. The island is great and the service excellent. I suggest to everyone!

Lovely just lovely
Jul 2020
We went to Örö to see the olf fort. My grandfather had served there around 1921-1923. The island is a natural gem, off from the mainland. Cycling around the island is great fun. We stayed in the hotel, the old but beautifully renovated house used to belong to the army.

Wow great place to be during summer!
Jul 2019
The place was very renovated and also very cool to see railroad guns and old military things, there were bunkers which you could go into, and there was a firing range which at the beach I found a bullet shell. Laten on I found 4 more shells and it was great. There was a nature area which you can go into to look at animals. You would get to see alot of other islands on the boat as you were going so it was just altogether so great!

For military history and nature lovers
Jun 2019 • Friends
Örö is a part of Archipelago National Park. It's just a great place; full of (military) history and nature. You can rent a bicycle or hike around. One day is not enough because there is just so much to see and the island is so peaceful. I made a day trip and next time I want to stay a night or two; hostels, hotels and rental cottages are available or stay in a tent. The island is easily reached from Kasnäs harbor; book a ferry trip in advance because it's very popular during summer months. There is mosquitoes and especially be aware of the ticks.

Örö island (national park)
Jul 2018 • Couples
Went to Örö from Kasnäs by ferry and stayed one night at the hotel. Nice wievs on nature path’s: different kind of Finnish nature and some military history. Bicycles can be rented from island but the amount is very limited. Possibility to see nice sun set at north peak of the island.

Interesting and beautiful island with fortress and history
Jul 2016 • Family
Well worth the trip, the Örö island is situated in the outer archipelago. You can go with a tour or take your own boat. The island has a long history as fortress and thereby a lot to see and explore. Its also a beautiful island with beaches, cliffs and lot of untouched nature. The island has a marina with cafe and restaurant.

Örö Marina
Aug 2016 • Couples
Nice new marina. They offer many different services for the sailors and most of them just fine but be aware of sauna services. Sauna is nice and new but just too small to handle the number of visitors.
Outside of the public sauna hours you can also reserve a private sauna. We did so and were so dissapointed to find the premises extremly messy and uncleaned (empty bear cans, shampoo bottles, swimsuits, towels and used baby diapers lying around).
You should also notice that warm water is not quarenteed in showers.

Wonderful day trip with kids
Jul 2016 • Family
We took the Örö linjen for a day trip to Örö island. We wished we had booked a longer stay: a night or two. The island is amazing! Really unique nature!
We ate the lunch buffet at the restaurant and it was good. We were travelling with children 2 and 3 years so did not participate in the guided tours, otherwise I would have wanted to listen to it.
We walked along the trails and went for a swim on the beautiful beach.
We had a twin buggy with us and it was not optimal on the smallest trails so I would recommend something else.

Unique
Jul 2016 • Friends
After being a closed army fort for a century, Örö was open for the public last summer and it has turned into one of the prime sights in the archipelago. Örö is unique both as a historical site as well as because of its nature. Örö was built during the Russian era as one part of the St. Peterburg defence, but was used later during WWII used to defend Finland against Russia. Some of the heavy guns are still there intact. The old barracks have been turned into restaurants, hotels, hostels, visitor center etc. There's two restaurants, one in the harbour and one in the village. The latter one requires pre-booking. There's signed visitor trails, but basically you can move around this Island as you want to admire the unique nature. There's two harbours for those coming with their own boat, but you can also get there by charter boats from Kasnäs.

Nice place to visit for a day or two.

Interesting history, things to explore and nice views are only few reasons to take a boat to Örö. Bengtskär lighthouse is quite near too.
