The museum offers a view of life from 18th early 20th century in Orava region. Except the way of living and typical housing you can learn about traditional skills like pottery, blackamithing or agriculture.

On the place there are animals to see like goats and sheeps.

The museum offers either book to borrow with information for free but we enjoyed app with audio and interactive map providing all neccessary information about the village and the life in past.

Altogether it took us about 3 hours to walk around and enjoy the place. Within the village there are som coffee places and in front of the entrance you can find a restaurant.

The history of housing from the 18th and 19th centuries in the Orava region. Houses from those times with their equipment. A fantastic adventure transferring to the atmosphere of those times.

This place is a perfect example of how people in my country used to live and how tough their lives had been, however I also think it is a great way if teaching kids how to appreciate what they have. The village is located in the middle of the forrest and you can always include a hiking to your daily programme as Slovak nature is so stunning!

Very nice muzeum, went there at the beginning of January and loved it. Easy walk also for kids.
Selling typical pottery. Souvenir shop is lacking variety though.

We've been there in July 2019. It's a really great place to spend day with your family. XVIII and XIX century buildings were transported there from whole Orava region - it's a great history lesson. Beautiful location almost in West Tatras is huge value as well.

Restaurant next to the entrance is serving delicious food!

An awesome trip to a village where you can get a look at how people in Orava used to live about 300 years ago. You can download an app as your guide and listen to the story of each house which is better than reading. You will see some domestic animals as well and you can take your dog (on a leash)! You can also find small shops with traditional hand made goods scattered around the village and have a great *langos* in the local stand.
All in all, it was 3 hours well spent.

Lovely and very nice place which represents overview of typical Slovak wooden village with traditional and authentic houses situated in beautiful Slovak nature - western Tatras. Great trip in all weather conditions for all - young, teenage, adult or mature people... go and see how Slovakian lived in past century!

Believe me, you can spend a half day there easily. Lot of small shops with handmade products, stunning old houses, wooden church and water mill with a pub. Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

Ooh boy we loved the experience. The weather was just right, lots of snow. The little buildings are all original, they were just relocated to this skansen/natural museum. Everything is renovated very nicely, the staff was really attentive. The lady at the souvenirs shop has been working there for 25 years!!! We got some really nice things there
