About
Janosikove Diery Gorge is one of the most beautiful hiking trails not only within National Park Mala Fatra, but the whole Slovakia and Central Europe. It is located in nature reservation Rozsutce and the valley river is forming numerous waterfalls and rocky formations. The hiking in this valley is possible via imposant wooden bridges and ladders.

We started in Štefanová and hiked down to Bialy Potok- had a lift back to our car though in Štefanová- otherwise you would have to either go back or walk on the main road back to the car park which is unpleasant, far and potentially dangerous :-/

Diery were nice, with lots of wooden and metal bridges (ok for small dogs which can be held up, but with larger dogs might not be the best place).

Took us around 1h one way ;)

Lots of people, some unprepared tourists who can be super annoying, so please wear HIKING BOOTS not WHITE adidas as it’ll be muddy and slippery!

We did the small circle and it took about 2.5 hours. We did a bunch of stopping for pictures and videos. Amazing natural beauty. We loved it!

Hiking shoes can be a help in some areas where there is mud or in the stream. We wish we had brought our hiking poles also. But overall, it was not too hard or too muddy.

Our trip there was on sunny weekend, so as you may imagine, there were a lot of people. As for nature. It looks pretty great (see photos).
If you go there to see Janosikove diery you won't be dissappointed (although it may take a while), but if you only go through there and you main aim is to climb some mountain (velky rozsutec, or velky krivan) I strongly suggest to choose other, less crowded track.

Took a bus Zilina-Terachova then to Hotel Diery
Took yellow route and part of blue route, chickened out to cover the whole of blue route
The hike is very beautiful but please be aware of ladders and chains. Definitely not for couch potatoes !!

A beautiful trail , with few track options. We did the blue-yellow-blue trail and it was nice though in some spots slippery. Highly recommended overall.

We had only one day so decided to do only 2 different routes out of 4.The ladders are very well maintained. The hiking was not very demanding, but some routes I would recommend only to families with kids over 5/6 years depending on ability of the child. Our boys aged 7 and 13 had no problem. The canyons are beautiful as well as all the forests and peaks around. We truly enjoyed our day and will be back soon.

Janosikove diery is very interesting and fun for adults and teenagers. Great nature. I do not recommend this trail with kids under 5, because some ladders are slippery.

The root is very beautiful. Lots to see on the way. Bridges and ladders over the water. Suitable for all the family.

Slowed down and took everything in - the lush greenery, the wet rocky walls, the streaming water. It was beautiful.

Not really a 'hike', as it's mostly pretty straightforward paths if you stick to the yellow route. The blue route is a bit more challenging, to the extent that we were glad of the chains anchored the rocks at tricky areas. At one point the trail disappeared altogether, becoming a boulder-filled stream -- i suspect that later in the season there may be less water, and easier travel. But a lot of fun, even though I think there must be a *lot* of tourist traffic in summer (there are warnings to negotiate circular routes one way, and be prepared for queues at bottlenecks).
