Salt mine - sounds boring? You're wrong! Amazing survivor of 18th century technology - you can see the unique mechanism whereby ponies and horses drew up the salt solution from the depths and the drying houses where the salt was crystallized. Also the wooden tower which summoned the workers. Great trip back 200-300 years. Helpful staff.

Arrived here at 3:30pm in the afternoon and were the only two people there. Nothing was too much trouble for them showing us around all the fantastic buildings. Very interesting tour . Many thanks. Will be definitely visiting here again

We had the Solivar Museum tour for the first time, despite having been around for several years. After the tour, we were angry at ourselves that it took us so long to visit. It was a very interesting tour of four buildings in chronological order as they were used in salt production. There are very well preserved buildings and facilities and a splendid refurbished salt storage building, which after fire broke down for 26 years. It was very interesting interpretation of our guide, who spoke exhaustively and answered all the questions.
