- Dan TLondon, United Kingdom91 contributionsPicturesque landscapesOur visit to the North Cape was one of the highlights of our recent Norway trip. We disembarked in the lovely little town of Honningsvåg (itself worth a wander around if you have the time) the most northern town in the world “no matter what the people in Hammerfest will tell you” to quote our guide. It is about a 45 minute drive from the town to the north cape and we did this on a coach which was arranged through Hurtigruten. The drive across the island of Magerøya was incredible and it certainly didn’t feel like a 1.5 hour round trip, surrounded by such picturesque landscapes- undoubtedly one of the most amazing places I have ever seen. We arrived at the northern cape on a beautifully sunny, albeit it very cold and windy (it is the most northerly point in Europe after all) day and spent some time wandering around looking at the various monuments and drinking in the view. After some time we headed in to the Hall itself, which was free and went downstairs to take in the small museum, learning a little more about WW2 and about previous expeditions to the North Cape, including one by the king of Siam (now Thailand), which were interesting even just as a slight reprieve from the cold! The cafe was great and offered good panoramic views and the gift shop was surprisingly tasteful. Overall I really enjoyed the afternoon I spent here, it’s remoteness means it is probably a place that I won’t get the chance to visit again so it’s one to make the most of if you get the opportunity!Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 19 October 2023
- 22gonnieRotterdam, The Netherlands119 contributionsBucketlist-placeAmazing place to visit despite the extremely cold wind and the fog. Unfortunately the weather wasn't that great when I was there, but still a spectacular place to visit. Very nice and interesting statues outside. The film inside the building was very well made and well worth watching. Large souvenirshop. Very clean inside the building.Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 30 June 2024
- Peng Boon TSingapore, Singapore2,482 contributionsThe northern most point in Norway reachable by car or busMy wife and I wanted to see Nordkapphallen (North Cape) Norway, the northern most point in Norway reachable by car or bus. As the shore tour to North Cape offered by our cruise ship was fully booked, we went to Honningsvåg Tourist Information where we took a local bus to North Cape, saving much money. See attached for photos of North Cape.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 July 2024
- lexmillerBurlington, Massachusetts1,150 contributionsA must see!The drive from Honningsvag to the North Cape is stunning - the tundra is mesmerizing - and full of reindeer! No trees grow here, so there are unending views of the reindeer, undulating hills, small lakes - beautiful! Note - make sure to spend a day in Honningsvag, a beautiful historical fishing town, lots of cafes, still a working fishing port, small, accessible, clean, yet very busy and vibrant. Once you get to the North Cape, if it's clear, get right out to the point to get some photos as a clear view is pretty rare! You are in the clouds here, so take advantage of a clear sky while you can. The building has lots inside - many museum exhibits, we spent nearly 2 hours reading, exploring, etc - so for those that think this is a "rip off", I don't understand frankly, as there is so much inside the building, so many scientific and historical exhibits. The gift shop is beautiful, many fine products, and there are several cafes - don't miss the waffles!Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 August 2024

This cliff that is daily visited by thousands of tourists every (normal) summer is just gorgeous - if there is no fog. But the fees they charge is a national shame. The wheelchair accessability on the non paved paths around the building is also very bad.

It's well worth coming to nordkapp, just stay away from Nordkaphallen. They try to charge you nearly 30 euro per person to have access to the restaurant and the souvenir shop. So they want you to pay money to spend money. You can still see all the relevant monuments without paying and there are free toilet facilities. I would suggest you do what we did which was to pocket the 60euro and head into town and spend your money there,

Given the choice, would I come here again? Emphatically No.
Firstly, it’s worth coming to the north cape area but the actual most northerly point is to the west of Nordkapp, accessible by a 8.8km hike, not by car. Secondly, the famous ‘globe’ was built in 1978 and has no historical significance whatsoever. Thirdly, this place is price gouging and mismanagement at its worst fuelled by the fact that it’s become a bucket list destination for coach parties and cruise ships.
When you arrive at Nordkapp, you are charged for parking, NOK125 for a car, charged for just being there, another NOK17 per person and charged to access the building that has a café, shops and the post office, another NOK330 per person!! Never in over 30 years of travelling have I been asked to pay to look at souvenirs before purchasing, to look at a café menu or access a post office! There was no suggestion that this fee was offset against any purchase and is supposedly for some kind of film, exhibition and museum. Why you can’t pay for that if you want to see it is beyond me. I don’t know if any of it was worth the fee as we didn’t pay or go in. I would have liked to send some postcards but not with that price premium attached! These profits are lining the pockets of a private company that lease the land, not benefitting locals. The whole outdoor area is like a gravel pit due to the thousands who tramp all over it as there are no pathways marked and what should have been tundra has been destroyed. The car park had at least a hundred motorhomes in it and the whole place felt more like an ugly campsite than a premium travel experience. This is overtourism at its worst. I’d skip it for one of the many more authentic experiences in north cape or finnmark.

Don’t ruin your beautiful journey!
If you decide to get in by car, they rip you off with over 300 kr per person (not per vehicle) and this is only for your entrance.
If you decide to hike there, because they claim on their website that it is free to enter the place, when you have made the effort to reach them by foot (or by bike for that matter), they ask you to buy a ticket anyways. Such a scam.

We visited the North Cape in September. We set off from Honningsvåg in sleet and rain showers. After 30km we arrived at the North Cape, and it was only cloudy and for three quarters of an hour the sun shone in an almost cloudless sky. The weather changes very quickly there.
At that time there were hardly any tourists visiting the North Cape and we were able to enjoy the panorama almost alone.
A word about the prices.
We were informed online that outside of opening hours, access to the North Cape rock and parking were free. That is correct. However, access to the rock and parking should also be free during opening hours.
Admission is ONLY for access to the building. There you can watch a film, visit a chapel, eat in the restaurant and visit a souvenir shop.

We had beautiful weather, it felt like 30 degrees. The route to the North Cape alone was beautiful. Still ‘swam’ in the Barents Sea at a beach along the route. The water was crystal clear (and cold).
Once we arrived at the North Cape, we were ready to make sure that we would only buy a parking ticket, after reading all the stories that you just have to pay an extra card for a museum you do not want to enter. We were pleasantly surprised that they changed a few things. At the gate you only pay parking fees and access to the north cape. If you still want to enter the museum and the souvenir shop you can buy a separate ticket further down the building (and without that ticket you will not enter the building).
The North Cape itself is a parking lot with a viewpoint.

This was awful. Do not go.
Nkr125 to park the car, nkr17 to just walk around and nkr330 to go into the building housing the cafe, souvenir shop etc. what an absolute rip off.
The whole are was worn out, messy and generally not managed at all. The toilets were equally unattended.
NORWAY…. I am sure you can do better than this. We are getting used to being gouged everywhere we go but this takes it to a new level

Fun to get to the plateau. Amazing views and powerful nature. Paid 200,- for parking and for 4 adults to be allowed to get out of the car!!!!! Could we intend to buy a coffee and something to eat, but to have to pay over 300,- per person in addition to just getting into the cafe is absolutely ridiculous!!!!

This is a must see when in the area, though you need to be careful how you choose to get here. The Hurtigruten offered a tour for around $288/person. You can contract with a local company for $120/person, or you can hop in a minivan for $50/person. We had already arranged in advance for the $120/person, but would have done the minivan if doing again. No one asked for money to enter the museum or gift shop. Museum is wonderful, gift shop better than expected. Expect to spend a couple hours here, about 45 minutes from the dock.

Ciao!

Consiglio vivamente l'esperienza coi granchi e RIB, davvero unica (pescati e mangiati).

In Honningsvag, you could buy ticket into the North Cape Tourist Information.
The bus leaves from there and It's costs about € 75,00 (with the ticket to enter in Nordkapp).
The bus, however, after 45 minutes to get to the site, stays just over an hour before taking you back.
You will have plenty of time to take your pictures, but obviously not the freedom to hold you back.
The admission ticket is valid for 2 days so you can arrange to return.
in front of the North Cape Tourist Information it is possible to rent a car for about € 150,00 / day.
