We drove about an hour from Rovaniemi to visit Ranua Zoo. Initially we were a little skeptical as the zoo seemed devoid of visitors. I Guess we went during an off peak season/timing and the plus point was that we could take our time to...More

Well guided tour in forest to see over 30 animals from Finnish nature. Took about 3hrs to walk it around, but we didn't hurry, so it could be even faster if there's not much time. Polar bears were cute and exotic, and other animals weren't...More

It is a large park on top of a hill where you travel on wooden trails between the enclosures. There are not so many animals as in other good ZOOs but it is thematically well created (with respect to Finnish nature) and you can enjoy...More

A truly enjoyable experience. Together with our teenager children, we drove for 50 minutes from Rovaniemi. Weather was perfect - sunny but not too hot so animals were visible. Highlights were the polar bear cub playing in his pool.

Like so many other visitors on this summer, we went there hoping to see your polar bear cub. At the end, we only saw a glimpse of her mom in a doorway, but rest of the place was very positive experience compared to my expectations....More

It is the best zoo i have been. There are a lot of different animals from water birds to polar bears! The snowy owl, reindeer and polar bears are my favourite! The animals are living in the "forest" and the setting isnt alike a typical...More

take care during winter - the paths are icy in places. I saw some tourists taking small plastic sleds with them and sledding some of the downhill paths.

You don't need a guide. The zoo has good information boards and maps, and the whole route is one path so you won't get lost.
