Watching the giant but graceful birds soar was breathtaking. At one point there were 20 of them circling and gliding.

Get off the bus at the start of the walk way before the cross. Walk towards the cross and if you are lucky with dry, warm and windy weather the condors will start to float above you. Condor cross itself is a mass of tour groups the walk to the point allows you to appreciate the canyon in peace.

My wife and I have just returned from the 2D/1N trip to Colca Canyon. On day 1 we were picked up from Arequipa and driven to Chivay via a number of scenic spots, then we had lunch at a buffet and finally we were dropped at our hotel. In the afternoon there was an option for going to the hot... More

I can't give this 5 as although i did see condors, they were literally miles away. As a result i could gauge how spectacular they were. That being said, this viewpoint is spacious with toilets and many vendors for drinks and snacks. Views of the canyon are great too.

It is a great trip to view the Condors and the Colca Canyon. It seems that by November Condors move to the cost, so try to do your trip by the end of October.

Do stay in Chivay or surrounds,it's a great base for reaching the Colca Canyon, some great viewpoints enroute to Condor Cros and these giant chilled out predators. Do leave plenty of time do dit in peace and respect these Sacred Mountains & do have the biggest grin on your face when the thermals are warm enough for the Condors to... More

I hear we were lucky. There are around 40-50 condors living in the canyon, but we visited during the nesting season, which meant adults tended to stay in their nests. Our guide told us that it was impossible to predict how many would come out, and that sometimes there were days where none did. We got there around 8 am,... More

Climbing to the edge of the canyon and seeing Condors flying past is out of this world. You can stay for hours just watching them circle up and down the canyon

We stayed in Colca lodge and left at 6.30 without stopping enroute. We arrived around 7.30. We saw around 15 of the 45 condors in the country. All flying one after one. We were apparently lucky. However the show was over by 8.15. Great views of canyon and only about 50 tourists. Some tourists passed us as we left but... More
