Beautiful. Well worth a visit. Very slippery inside the cave! Best car park location is what 3 words: sprays.geologist.unzipped

If you park there walk out the car park with the toilets to your right then take the next right hand turn, walk along the road and take a left the pathway is then signposted and is a short walk. My dog and I walked there and back in 1hr 30 but stopped in the cave for a photo and walked to the top of it to.

We stopped here on the way from Haworth back to Birmingham to make the most of the last day of the holiday, and it was definitely worth the detour!
We parked at the little NT Wetton tea rooms and walked up. Lovely stroll along the road to the foot of the hill, then a gradual climb. Tough on the knees in places, but doable if done steadily. Take care if wet as could be very slippy.
The cave itself is impressive (take care if wet as was slippy even on a dry day!) with some great photo opps - we were lucky as very few people there
Standing at the top of the cave, a bit more of a climb, was even more impressive, and if you've made it that far a must do!

Be aware! Combination of very steep steps and uneven mud tracks, which in the winter when we did this walk were extremely slippy, making it a hazardous walk to reach the Cave from the valley below. Very difficult to access the Cave itself once you arrive at the entrance. Views of the surrounding countryside from the Cave entrance are lovely.

It's a nice cave with some good walks around the area too. The walk up to the cave itself is mostly steps but not too taxing to get up to the top. A little busy with it being so popular and slippery on a rainy day to get into the cave itself. But once inside the views looking out are nice and the structure is good to see up close. However, it is just a cave and after a few minutes we were back on our way to enjoy the more interesting walks around the area. If in the area then worth a visit, but wouldn't go out of my way to head back anytime soon.

Depending on your route inwards (ours was an hour and a half walk in) it can be a steep challenge for tired legs, but very adventurous! The views are incredible! Not great for young children, curious pets or those not so agile, as there are slippery rocks and narrow paths that lead to long falls.

Really epic views and a fun place to explore. There’s a long route you can take (couple hours) but we took an express track to make it for sunrise, about 1 mile / 25 mins from Wetton. It’s a little car park where the toilet blocks are (few mins from the Royal Oak pub). I imagine the top is really slippery to get up to the cave during wet season so I would only go on a dry day as the last little stretch is steep mud and stone. The sun doesn’t rise where you’d see it from within the cave you’d have to sit on the top. Also don’t climb down from the top into the cave, there is a track that runs below the cave opening that lets you step up into the cave which seems a much safer option. Really cool spot and would recommend if in the area… makes for a good photo!

We visited as part of a walk along the Manifold Trail. There is a good path up to the cave, and it wasn’t as steep as we thought it would be. The views from the cave are amazing and worth the climb.

Would recommend to everyone, absolutely beautiful. Great cycle/walk to get there, not too difficult a walk up, great views from the top, plenty of space to explore. It was busy, but when somewhere as lovely as this is free to visit you can't expect anything else!

Came here after seeing good old walking groups visit and the scenic photos, made it as part of a hike from dovedale stepping stones.
Some lovely views from the top of the grassy hill above it and saw dovedale caves on my way
Its an interesting see inside and some good photo opportunities and worth a visit, think there are some more caves nearby if you check the peak district websites

We parked at the bottom of the valley in the trail car park and walked up through the lanes to Wetton. We stopped in the village pub and had a nice lunch before continuing on through the village. As the lane starts to go downhill there is a path marked to the cave. Following our visit to the cave we went back down into the valley and turned left to walk back to the car park. The cave itself was very impressivebut is very slippery underfoot. Well worth a visit. If you want to find the start point by satnav the nearest code I could find was for Beeston Tor Farm.
