Beautiful from the Top!
Jun 2021 • Couples
It's a great geographical feature however the "walked a mile to see the cave, inexperienced ordinary trainer crew" falling over and sliding in the cave made me decide to head back out. I wasn't being bumped in to! The view from the top above the cave is stunning with few visitors, this being my favourite part. You can view the cave from along the Manifold Way beneath and that is impressive also.

Great viewpoint
Jun 2021
Took a quick trip to the cave on the way home as a final flourish in the peaks for a weekend. Stunning view from the top of the cave (you can walk round and up over it) Cave itself is great too but very busy and people slipping and sliding everywhere with bad footwear. There is a sloped slab inside which is worn smooth in places from the footfall i imagine so make sure you have something decent on your feet.

Easy walk up though took about 15 minutes from the road and well worth it for the view alone.

Muddy!!!
Mar 2021 • Friends
The cave itself was huge and offered amazing views, I’ve never seen anything like it! The view from on top of the cave is also lovely. We went during March, the day itself was not rainy but the walk to and from the cave was extremely muddy and up steep slopes, making it very easy for us to slip! Would recommend not going when wet, but a lovely trip!

December walk
Dec 2020 • Family
Lovely walk with my children today. We parked at the Wetton car park (thankfully with a loo).
Walked to Thor’s cave, very very muddy. We had our wellies on.
Arrived at the cave, which was breathtaking and amazing. Children loved it, as did I. Walked to the river for our picnic and then back up the big steps (glutes be ready)!
Lovely walk, just really really muddy, but also fun because of this!

Sunday Hike
Nov 2020 • Couples
We were looking for a Sunday hike and were not disappointed. Parked at Wetton Mill and headed up the footpath to the left of the cafe past the farm. We followed the South Manifold Valley Trail took the styal and footpath along the stone wall to the top of Ecton Hill dropping back through the fields following the national trust signs to Wetton Hills and finally Thor’s Cave. Just over 8 miles. Definitely blew the cobwebs away but a fantastic walk. The entrance to the cave was slippery so a bit challenging getting back out but wow well worth the climb. Would definitely revisit in Spring/Summer when a bit better underfoot.
Great little tearoom at Wetton Mill with toilets and facilities.

Fun climb for fit members of the family and an exciting exploration into the cave as part of a day in the Manifiold Valley.

We was not disappointed...
Oct 2020
Wow!! Me and my partner visited Thor's Cave beginning of this month (Oct) and we was not disappointed. Yes it was wet, yes it was slippery but we were fully prepared with our waterproofs and hiking boots and taking our time, it was fine. Beautiful scenery all around and from inside the cave it is a unique experience in itself. We did get there quiet early in the day (9ish) and we was the only people there which was peaceful and we did not have to worry about social distancing.
There was free car parking at Wetton with toilets (open from 10am) and roughly a 30 - 35 minute walk from the car park to Thor's Cave.
Because it was wet and a tad slippery, we thought it was wise not to walk to the top of the cave but we will return to Thor's Cave in the future and will aim to walk up to there.

Well worth a visit !!!
Aug 2020 • Couples
Definitely worth visiting really easy to find and not to hard to reach the cave, once you get to the cave bit tricky getting in but it's a must, don't forget to check the money tree on the route up, also if your feeling fit walk to the top of the cave it's steep but the views are amazing.

Spectacular
Sep 2020
A remarkably spectacular place, steeped in millennia of history. A little crowded when we visited this week, sadly with some people not respecting the surroundings by leaving litter there and in the village and allowing their dogs and feral children to run in the fields....wondered why some of them had gone there to be honest. Best enjoyed out of season and on weekdays, when the striking and peaceful atmosphere can be savoured.
