A must do. Cost nothing. Restaurant, toilets and shop next to the parking.
The further you walk the nicer it gets.
In winter a lot of ice. When windy also very chilly.
In summertime... I do not know.

Gullfoss really was spectacular to see. When we visited large parts of the falls were frozen which made it even better.
Just make sure you take your thermals as when it's cold and the wind blows you'll feel it, but this was great and part of the experience.

Coldest and windiest place i have ever been, also one of the most spectacular scenery. Visited in March so much was frozen and white with snow making it look very special. Definitely worth a visit and hopefully you get a less windy day than we had.

Gulfoss ( Golden Fall) is an iconic and famous waterfall in Iceland located at the HVita River Canyon. The water falls at 34 meter height in two stages. There was a controversy in 1909 when an English businessman planned to build a hydel power plant at this site. The Thomassen family, who owned this, fought a legal battle to stop the destruction of this natural beaand won legal battle in 1929.
I visited this place on 21st Mar'23 as part of our Golden Circle tour. It was cloudy weather, very cold and icy wind blowing at 60 km. The ground being icy, we had to be very careful to avoid slipping on the ice. The main view deck was so windy that we hardly could stand there. It was an awesome view. The mouth of thd fall and part of the river was completely frozen and water falling in full force out of the icy mouth.
There are good restaurants in the area and souvenir shops as well
A must visit spot in Iceland.

This is the waterfall to see and you need to go on both levels and back some to see the many stunning views. The lower level is my favorite. they have a nice gift shop here and restrooms too.

One of the stops on our Golden Circle tour with BusTravel Iceland.
I was really looking forward to this and it truly was an impressive sight (and sound).
Be warned thou, it was windy so the air temperature was not just bracing, it was utterly freezing. To the point that you could feel mini shards of ice hitting you from the falls. For the first time ever, my camera and lens completely froze!
I would have loved to stay longer for more photos, but when on an organised tour you get a very limited slot.

Visited as part of a Golden Circle Tour. Almost completely iced over when we visited making it look very other-worldly. Great back story about how it was saved from development as a hydro-electric source. Well worth a visit.

Gullfoss - Golden falls - is probably one of the most iconic waterfalls in Iceland. It is situated in the Hvita river canyon and can be visited without charge like all the other Golden Circle sights. We visited it in our private tour which we did with Stefan Helgi Valsson.
This waterfall has also an interesting history - it is said that there was plans to using it to generate electricity and the owners even rented the waterfall to foreign investors. And only the lack of money saved it. An other - more romantic story - tells that it was saved by one of the owners daughter SigrÃður Tómasdóttir who even threatened to throw herself down in order to save it.
When we visited Gullfoss it was very windy and cold so dress accordingly.

We visited Gulfoss on the Golden Circle route while self driving on a road trip
It was great and worth a visit however we drove round quite a bit of Iceland and we saw waterfalls we preferred on South Coast , e.g. Skógafoss, Svartifoss, Seljandfoss, Urridafoss.
Despite this being quite spectacular we definitely feel there are better. If you have the time and chance, get out beyond Gulfoss

For Gullfloss you’re fine driving there in a regular car as the roads are all paved.

Help if you would please Coming to Iceland what would you recommend for a seven day trip?

My recommendation would be to hire a car and drive the circle road, right around the island. Secret Lagoon is better than Blue Lagoon. There are amazing sights to see off the normal tourist routes, explore Iceland on your own its so much more rewarding.
Is gullfoss handicap accessible

i'd say yes. The site has multiple access; the one from above has an accessilbe path that allows you to see the waterfall from above;
Load googlemaps site and look for Gulfoss; you'll be alble to use street view for better knoledge!
Enjoy your trip!
