Back to the old time. A must see not far from the main roads
Mar 2020
This place looks like a British cottage village with almost exclusively straw roofs homes that are said to last longer than any hard roof.
This straw is a local product coming from the neighbor marshes.
Today people would say that the carbon print is very low, here all is green.

Must visit

Lovely village rebuilt in the original style. Beatifully maintained cottages, sheep grazing, very idyllic. Good start for hiking tours. Don't miss the "auberge" for a drink or some tasty food.

A relaxing informative way to spend a few hours
Aug 2017 • Couples
Thatched roofs, artisan shops, set in a quaint easily accessible village a bit out of the way but with easy parking once you find it. Nice nature walk around a pond after visiting all the buildings, do visit if in the area.

Nice lace to spend an afternoon and walk around, have a crepe or just to picnic. There ar boat tours of th marshes and you can view the lovely catch roofed homes. There is also a really nice range of traditional shops for buying gifts or postcards. We have visited a number of times and always enjoy this old village atmosphere

Lovely Village
Aug 2017 • Friends
A historic village rebuilt or renovated small village in a beautiful setting. A lovely car less village with thatched rooves and some really nice twee shops. Off the beaten track but worth diverting to.

Gorgeous village with authentic architecture
Jul 2017
Although this village is historic and authentic, it is so beautiful and well kept that it almost looks fake as you would see in an amusement park. The flowers and roofs are so beautiful. You can learn more about how the roofs are made on the boat tour of the marais de la briere by the port of the pierre fendue. I highly recommend.

Visit if you are passing!
Jul 2017
Quaint and interesting. Could have done with more of the history of the place in English. The artisan craft for sale was very expensive. Visit if you are close by but not worth going too far out of your way. We are told that there is a good market there on a Thursday.

Small but interesting

I have been to this village a few times now. Difficult to find but worth it when you get there. Typical village of the area with thatched roofs and animals wandering about. Worth the trip.

We stumbled across this attraction en route for the parc Briere and were so glad we visited these beautifully preserved houses with wonderfully thatched roofs. There are placards with an English translation which are very clear. Do visit.
