Although the facility was closed we could still get a good view of the SS. Moyie. Since our last visit 32 years ago we could see the ship has had a serious overhaul. Interpretation in front of the ship needs upgrading but searching out this unique part of BCs history is well worth a look.

It is a setback in time when the SS Moyie steamboat was in service on Kootenay Lake. From fashion to dinner settings, old suitcases and horse carriages, everything is being displayed

Took my kids here when I lived in Kaslo - a very informative trip through history. Very nicely restored and a great interpretive tour. For a small donation you can even toot the air horn!

We stopped at SS Moyie Historic Site on our way home to the Lower Mainland. So Worth the Stop. The locals have done a great job of Restoring this vessel. Lots to see & learn from bottom to top. You will see the love & care put into each room of the vessel. A trip down memory lane - fun.... More

Loved the Moyie Sternwheeler museum, fantastic, awesome, fun, educational. It was a beautiful day, lots of sunshine. Kootenay Lake is beautiful to see from the Moyie. Enjoyed the nearby Kaslo, BC visitor center too.

Kalso BC is a really neat town. Most of the buildings seem to be heritage buildings from the turn of the 19/20th century & they make it feel like a wild west town. However, there is a rear paddle steamer undergoing restoration & it is superb. Stunning detail, great features that make it look like it just docked in the... More

The oldest surviving stern wheeler in the world. Local people saved this wonderful old ship from demolition and have worked extremely hard to preserve the original grandness. Walk through the boxes of cargo, old cars ready to be unloaded and see the coal ready to help turn the wheel. Visit the captain's quarters, the wheelhouse and the galley. Enjoy the... More

This is a "Must See" for anyone interested in local history. The volunteers who are doing this must be congratulated. While some areas are still in the restoring mode it was wonderful to see what they've done.
