my family is from la carnia so visiting the museo carnico was a must for me. l spent many hours there and every room taught me more and more about my heritage. my dad always told me about the hardships the people of the area faced and being there and going from room to room l began to understand what he has been trying to explain to me for many years. When the realization set in l became quite teary, l could not understand why my dad and his family would leave this most beautiful area and these astounding mountains but going to this museum gave me a small insight into the day to day lives and struggles of the people in this area over decades and centuries. l highly recommend spending a few hours at Museo Carnico in Tolmezzo

Interesting local life museum

Interesting museum of local arts and crafts, traditions and way of life in the Carnia region. It has a wealth of objects, furniture, costumes, which tell you the story and history of a laborious people who used to live in extremely poor conditions and through thrift and hard work have become one of the most prosperous areas in Italy.
A lovely reconstruction of an old fashion kitchen with all its glimmering copper pots and pans.

A very interesting place to learn about how life was in that area, lots of beautiful pieces of furniture and clothes. Loved the way they redid rooms such as bedrooms, kitchen an more. Well documented. Definitely worth seeing

Wonderful museum of the Carnia region. All the rooms display items in good taste and show beautiful tools of woodcarvers, and other artisans including the cooking tools that were used around the open fire kitchens. So much to see in textiles, clothing, carts, on and on.
