Surrounded by XIII century wall
Aug 2019 • Couples
The village is really small and surrounded by the wall, which were rebuilt after earthquake in 70s last century.
It’s worth to have a walk around; takes literally 10 minutes.

Compact medieval walled town
Jul 2019 • Couples
We drove past the walled and moated town, went “wow” and turned around. You can drive in but it is such a small area that it’s nice to walk through the ancient archway and wander the quiet streets on foot. An earthquake flattened a lot of it in 1976, and 47 people died in this small village. We had coffee in the square and loved the peaceful surroundings.

Beautiful medieval town
Feb 2018 • Friends
The town of Venzone, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The town was unfortunately struck by an earthquake in 1976 and completely destroyed; it was then fully reconstructed using each single stone back to where it belonged. It has beautiful stone houses, fully surrounded by walls, the main square with its gothic stone town hall and clock tower, a nice cathedral and interesting chapel with mummies from between the 13th and 19th centuries. All around were lavender shops, as there are quite some field around the area and the place is famous for it.

A quaint little town
Aug 2016 • Couples
It is a very small town but very well kept. It took us about an hour to walk the whole town. Very romantic streets and buildings. Tons of photo opportunities with the beautiful mountain as the background. After the stroll around town, we took a break at a cafe at the main plaza. What a relaxing and wonderful break.

The impressive city walls of Venzone complement the medieval atmosphere
Sep 2015 • Couples
Along with most of Venzone, the medieval city walls were destroyed by the devastating earthquake of 1976. Only the San Genesio Gate, built in the 14th century, was spared. With superhuman effort and loving care, the rebuilding of Venzone was completed in 1990, returning to us one of the most charming medieval cities in the world. Enhancing the atmosphere are the rebuilt medieval city walls, which can be admired when walking round Venzone.
