visited this 1500 yrs old temple with family in april 17. the temple has all navagraha deities. and has a wonderful architecture ...lot of shops outside temple who are selling the prasadam as offerings for temple. there are shops inside as well .. so better buy from inside... we bought from outside and the rates were i think more ...... More

Last September 2016, we went to this temple staying in Sithi Residency, Kumbakonam as we are from Coimbatore. This is our second time visit to this temple. on your entry, at left, cash counter is there. you can buy tickets for all ten Deities (nine for planet deities and one for Pillayaar) at the cost Rs. 20 for each Deity.... Crowded unorganised temple.Sun god is at the centre all the Nava graghas are surrounded by the GOD SUN.Less space more crowd poorly organised when compared to other temple.

If you are going not to do a puja to one of the planets but simply to see and experience this unique temple where all nine planets are featured for worship, first of all know that you don't need a guide. Sun is considered the lord of 9 planets as per Indian Astrology though this is an ancient temple is not very big compared to the most of the temples around Kumbakonam town, The Sun idol is between 4 to 5 feet and you can also find other 8 planet idols of small size in the same temple premises. We had visited this temple dedicated to Sun God and located about 15 km in the outskirts of Kumbakonam town. We reached just in time since the temple was about to close at 1 pm in the afternoon. This is temple where you can find all the Navagrahas. it is slightly away from Kumbakonam town but worth a visit.

This temple is dedicated to lord Suriyan (Sun) and is one of the navagraha temples. This temple has shires for all other planets as well. Kol vinay theertha Vinayagar is an important deity inside the temple and should be worshiped first before worshiping Lord Suriyan and other planets. Wheat and red flowers are given as offering here.
