Such a pitty.... this is such a beautiful part of our country. The municipality is not keeping up with maintenance and let weeds grow over at least half the dam. Some boats are even grown stuck in the water because of this. Some drastic measures need to take place. Restaurants, boat trips and properties are all taking huge strain. Still... More

The dam has been plagued by problems of blue-green algal problems and sewerage causing bad smells and green water. But when I recently visited it seems to have improved. "Harties" as the locals call it has some really great places and some very awful places. It is a beautiful area and some of the restaurants/conference areas have amazing views. I... More

Stopped at various places where there is stalls/vlooimark and was quite surpriced at the amount of stalls and wide spread of goodies you can procure, At Damdoryn their are a vast amount of stalls where yoy can get anything from antics, spares and accessories for bikes and cars to... Visited the dam many times as a child. To see it again and drive through the tunnel and arch brought back happy memories. The dam was overflowing which is always spectacular. Well worth the visit.

Great views from all angles but the dam is in need of maintenance, the smell at times can get really bad.

The view in the photo is what one can see after rains and the spillway is letting water out. The day we went it was spectacular. Cars go by very fast and very close so watch yourself carefully!
