The Monkey Sanctuary is one of several sanctuaries in a group of sanctuaries, including the elephant sanctuary that provides for orphaned and abused animals. Situated west of Hartbeesport Dam alongside the Elephant sanctuary it provides an environment where monkeys (primates) can be given their freedom in a natural environment. Had a lovely time at both the elephant sanctuary in the morning, followed by the monkey sanctuary and finished off with the cable cars. The teams at both sites are very knowledgeable and we got some fantastic pictures of both. I would highly recommend booking it as a day trip though and try and get a sunny day if you... More

Such a special place. We visited with lots of kids of all ages from 4 to 14 and everyone enjoyed this place so much. Some of the monkeys (cappuchins I think) were very cheeky but so cute and as long you listen to your guide you wont have your sunglasses stolen:-) Not for lack of trying on the monkeys part!... Good day. Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are pleased to hear you had a wonderful experience. Kids LOVE the monkey's and that's where we need to start educating about our animals. We hope to see you again soon. Regards More

Absolutely loved being able to walk through with monkeys roaming free! The tour guide was very informative and entertaining. The only thing I would say is that I would have liked to have spent a little more time with the monkeys as it was less than an hour.

If you looking for something to do with the hole family. This is it. Child friendly. You can also get snacks and drinks from there shop. They don't actually buy the monkeys they get them from people that bought them and can't look after them anymore. Fun fun fun

We have a private tour with an excellent guide called Wyson. He told us about the monkeys and we were able to interact with them for the hour's tour. I thoroughly recommend this as a great way to spend time in Hartbeespoort. A further very positive comment for the young lady on reception who organised a tour out of schedule... More

We had a private tour around the monkey enclosure. The guide was fabulous and very informative. As soon as we entered the enclosure, we had a monkey called Mr T come and allow us to interact with him. All the monkeys and lemurs we saw seemed very well kept. An incredible experience.

The walk in the park is quite interesting. Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable and a bit of a comedian. He was able to warn us about naughty and friendly monkeys in the park ; which one's to play with and which one to avoid . Enriching experience in total.
