A castle with keep used to stand here and was base for the clan of grandson of Niwa Nagahide, a prominent commander under Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. In 1868, the samurais' last stand against the seiging Meiji Government army took place here with teenage soldiers and the lord fighting to death. Most buildings were lost during the battle. The... Nice long walk in park like atmosphere. There is no actual castle, just the wall and lovely park area.
