About
From our small, family-run workshop in An Rinn, Co. Waterford, we craft precise hand cut crystal products for discerning customers around the world. The products we make are stories made physical. More than just useful objects, they create meaningful connection with our rich culture, history, nature and language. Criostal na Rinne is situated on the coast of west Waterford in Ireland’s Ancient East, near the Waterford Greenway. We are nestled a short distance from historic towns and villages such as Lismore, Dungarvan, Ardmore and Youghal. We are located just 8km off the N25 between Dungarvan and Cork near the R674 to An Rinn and Ceann Heilbhic. Visit Criostal na Rinne to experience the craft of crystal cut by hand, a skill that the area is noted for. Eamonn gives free tours and demonstrations both individually and to groups, showing the techniques of a master craftsman and explaining the history of glassmaking in the area stretching back hundreds of years to the present day.

Fantastic Experience for the Whole Family
Mar 2020
We dropped in to Eamonn's studio on a whim and very glad that we did. It was the highlight of our trip to Waterford. He was an excellent host and teacher. The children and adults learned a lot about the history of Waterford Crystal and glass cutting. He takes pride in his work and is very passionate about it which shines through all he does. He even spoke some Irish with the children. We couldn't decide on what to buy as all the pieces are very lovely but will definitely be visiting his online shop soon. We did, however, take home with us a glass jam jar cut by his son and filled with delicious orange marmalade made by his wife. Fantastic experience and one we will always remember. Go raibh maith agat!!!

The craft of Crystal at Criostal na Rinne
Jul 2018 • Couples
Eamon Terry is the owner and craftsman of this factory/showroom. A former master carver at Waterford, he started his own business as Waterford began to fail. We dropped in on him and found ourselves recipients of not only a history of crystal making, but also a demonstration of its carving by Eamon himself.

He has both traditional and more contemporary designs, all exquisitely done. He makes glassware, bowls, trophies and more complicated projects such as lamps and decorative pieces. The value is fabulous for the price.

Take the N25 out of Dungarvan towards Cork, and in about 6 km or so you'll see a sign in Irish for Hellvic. (R 673). Follow that to a turnoff to Ballynagaul (Baille na ngaul) and drive past the village's intersection. Eamon's workshop is on the left. Well worth the trip!

Excelent crystal designs

Now we understand why it takes so many years to become a master. Very nice demonstration. Criostal na Rinne shows how a simple piece of crystal is turned into a masterpiece. Especially the new viking and floral designs are breathtaking.

We loved visiting Criostal na Rinne! Eamonn spent so much time with us sharing his expertise. He is a true artist! We loved learning about crystal making and totally enjoyed our time with him and his lovely wife. This is much better than going to the Waterford Factory!

Hidden gem
Jun 2018 • Couples
Joe at Dun Ard B&B strongly encouraged us to visit Criostal na Rinne and even texted Mr. Terry that we were coming, which was endearing. We had originally planned to go to House of Waterford but then instead went here and were OVERJOYED with our experience!! If given the choice again, we would go here!

Mr. Terry was kind enough to give us a one-on-one tour of his facility and explained and demonstrated how crystal pieces are made. He is super personable and gave us great advice about where to go, etc. The most helpful thing he told us what to do when we are driving on narrow, supposedly 2-way roads, and have another vehicle approaching from the opposite direction. We totally kept that in mind for the rest of our holiday in Ireland, thank you Mr. Terry!

We loved seeing all the incredibly skillful pieces that Mr. Terry designed and were extremely impressed with his explanation of what goes into making such intricate pieces. We wanted to get the shamrock sun catcher that was on his website but sadly he was out of them at the time and it would cost more than the piece to ship it internationally. We will definitely stop here again next time we are in Ireland!

Craftsmanship and hospitality

I can't say enough good things about our visit to Criostal na Rinne. Mr. Terry is a true craftsman and a gentleman. While the glass is not blown here the rest of the creative work is. He took time to show our family about his craft and the art he creates, explaining the crystal making process. He interacted with adults and children equally well. He also made travel suggestions for the places and sights in the area. If you are looking for an heirloom piece or the perfect Irish "souvenir" then you need to visit.

Thank you for a lovely review. I am glad that you enjoyed your personal demonstration and learning about the craft. The blank pieces of crystal we use are blown at another craft studio furnace in Co. Waterford as traditionally craftspersons working with Irish crystal would specialise in an area such as cutting, blowing etc for their entire career. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit to the area and thanks again for visiting!
