CONCRETE BOMBSITE

I hate to be negative but after many years of absence from this place of my childhood, i found the place utterly depressing. Curiosity made me take the short train trip after visits last week to Largs and Troon. I tried Wikipedia for information as to the original purpose of these grey drab concrete installations on the seafront. There is what could be a magnificent beach running all along the shoreline to Ardrossan which is equally as drab.
The whole front looks like a WW2 D-Day practice area. The town is also very run down. Beach and town were very quiet. Cant imagine why anyone would want to holiday here anymore.Historically, the town is famous for 3 things. Salt panning, thus the name. 18th Century shipbuilding and more recently , well 60 years ago, Bobby Lennox, Scottish Footballer and Lisbon lion extraordinaire.
Ok it was a dull day but even sunshine would not have made much of an improvement. Badly needs a complete seafront facelift but i suppose funds,in this mess we are in, are the problem. Saviour of the day was Oscars, an upmarket seafront Bistro well worth a visit.
Sorry Saltcoats, but you are indeed a sorry Saltcoats 😟

Just bought a static today. This site has everything you could ever want for a caravan holiday. Will suit us and grandchildren and only an hour from home. So our sale went through quickly and easily with the help of Angela,She's a star with a very professional approach, all the staff were very nice and sociable would highly recommend Sandylands a first class excellent holiday camp.and Saltcoats beach.you dont need nothing else for a holiday although the sunshine helps.

Beautiful beach for families and dog walking.

Beautiful beach I’m very lucky to live extremely close by it’s fantastic for families and also dog walking my only issue is it can get extremely busy with other people coming from different towns and that was also a huge issue during lockdown which was very sad to see!

Another wee walk

In between appointments today visited this beach instead of Ardrossan. Had a gentle stroll in chilly but sunny weather and it was quiet with everyone keeping 2m apart. Similar views as Ardrossan with Paddy's milestane looking good in the distance

beautiful views of arran and the sea, the ferry also isn’t too far(in ardrossan) and an ice cream van is usually there in the summer.

the beach here is nice to walk and has ample parking but i feel some investment needed just like other ayrshire beaches. close to town center, very accessible but nothing to do when it rains

Very popular beach with day trippers flocking from glasgow during the good weather. The beach is kept pretty clean by the council and offered stunning views of Arran
