Ancient Wall of immense proportions
Jul 2020 • Couples
No is 100% sure of when or who built this unbelievable structure. Ex
Estimates of its age run as old as 3000 years. Most credit the Ernici tribe with its construction but one local urban legend says that when a part of the wall needed repair a tablet of Sumerian origin was found. In any event it is quite impressive and the Cathedral of St. Paul sits atop it. Inside a Eucharistic miracle took place. All worth a visit. Just coat the sides of your car with Vaseline to get it through the streets...lol

cyclopean walls & temple of saturn
May 2018
I was first drawn to this hilltop village because my ancestors initiated their passage to America from this quaint but well protected ancient town. I don't know what the locals were trying to protect themselves from but the amount of effort required to construct the fortified perimeter walls is almost impossible to imagine for a small village. As is true around the world in Peru, Crete and other prehistoric fortifications stones as large as city buses have been fit together without mortar almost perfectly. And while there is a very wonderful church standing in the center of town, before Christianity it was a temple to the god Saturn. Measurements of sounds below human capacity to hear have suggested that the mountaintop emanates a calming and meditation inducing tremble. Alatri is known as the city of water due to artesian wells. I've had a number of very excellent meals at restaurants whose names I do not remember over all it's a great little town to visit.
