We visited Qionghai Lake on the second day or our 3 day Xichang trip. Absolutely glorious sunshine. We hired bikes in the local town for 20rmb for the day, then cycled around the entire lake. I believe you can rent the bikes in the lake area for a bit more though. Very peaceful, great views of the mountains and lake.... More

Over the last 5 years there has been a great deal of open space and parkland development around the lake. The facilities and recreational offering have improved greatly. It's a great place to spend the day with the family or friends. It's a large enough space that it's never really crowded. Traffic around the lake can get quite congested however.... More

A great location for an afternoon or midday stroll. There are many opportunities for photo ops and such. If you plan on going during a major holiday (like Chinese New Year or National Day), tons of people. Walking around you can see the beautiful mountains and lake surrounding the wetland park. Granted the lake is a bit polluted from trash... More

I just went to the part of the lake near Qionghai hotel 邛海宾馆 (where is Chinese BBQ -delicious!). There are benches, stalls,...it's nothing great but it's a nice place to spend a sunny afternoon... I know there are other parts of the lake, where you can swim or discover wetlands...but haven't been there

I actually visited this lake in 2008. You would never imagine it but just outside of this massive city are some of the best views while hiking up the mountains.

Commercial tourism usually associated with coasts. Still under development. Will get bigger. The associated wetlands are good, but can they survive???
